Five arrested over GH¢48,000 robbery at filling station

Five members of staff of Rich Oil Filling Station in Akwatia in the Eastern Region have been arrested by the local police on suspicion of having had a hand in the break in leading to the stealing of GH¢47,926 that was kept in the Area Manager’s office safe.

The Area Manager, Clifford Nyarko, reported to the Police that on October 24, 2016 at about 7:05am, he detected that thieves had broken into his office and cut open the safe in which the said money had been kept for some days for safekeeping and made away with it.

When the police visited the scene, the Area Manager’s complaint was confirmed.

The five suspects, who were on duty during the night, Dawuda Abubakari, 24, Habib Abraham, 23, Mohammed Hashimi, 29, Razak Jabril, 26, and Yakubu Mohammed, 49, were arrested to help in police investigations.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Police Command has directed the Akwatia Police to invite the Area Manager Clifford Nyarko to also help police investigation into his motive for keeping such a huge sum of money in his office for several days and other related matters.
