An ex-military sergeant and national security operative is still languishing in police cells weeks after being admitted to bail by an Accra circuit court.
47 year old Frimpong Ampomah is unable to execute the 10,000 cedi and two surety bail for defrauding the complainant to the sum of 12,000 cedis.
The ex-military sergeant Frimpong Ampomah, pleaded not guilty to one count of defrauding by false pretenses.
He was arrested at a hideout within the Teshie-Nungua environ after months of hide and seek.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Christy Dery, told the court that the accused works as a national security operative.
The prosecutor said ex-sergeant Frimpong Ampomah last year used his position to lure the complainant to part with 12,000 cedis under the pretext of selling a Toyota Corolla LE saloon car to him.
Chief Inspector Dery, said the accused then went into hiding after taking the money until he was arrested after a tip off.
But the accused Frimpong Ampomah, pleaded not guilty and was admitted to 10,000 cedis bail with two sureties, one of whom should be a civil servant and earn at least 5,000 cedis. However, the accused failed to meet the bail condition and is still being held in police custody.
In a related development, an Accra circuit court has incarcerated a 25 year mason, Godwin Achor, for twelve months for stealing. The convict, pleaded guilty to breaking in and stealing personal effects of a reverend minister at Adenta.
His 25 year old accomplice, Kwesi Annor, however pleaded not guilty and has been remanded into police custody.
According to the prosecution, Godwin Achor, uses his profession to spy on people and later break into their homes with support from Kwesi.
The police alleged, Godwin whilst in detention at the Madina cells, was spotted showing inmates how to detect weaknesses in the cells to enable them break it.
Another accused person, 27 year old apprentice mechanic, Edem Dzigbordi, has been remanded into police custody for stealing. Edem reportedly stole a Toyota Corolla saloon from a garage after the owner, a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies had sent it for a minor repair work.
The police said Edem later connived with some personnel at the DVLA to convert the saloon into a taxi to be used until he was arrested at Ashongmang late June.
