Ghana is up one place and third best in Africa in the latest FIFA ranking that was heavily influenced by the just ended Euro 2016 championships.

The Black Stars are 36th overall but behind Ivory Coast and Algeria in the Africa section.

Algeria remained in 32nd position and are still the continent’s highest ranked football nation.

Ivory Coast also moved up to 35th but their position in the African ranking remained unchanged at 2nd.

The Pharaohs of Egypt qualified for AFCON for the first time since winning it in 2010 and have been rewarded with an upward movement in the ranking up to 43rd in the world and 5th on the continent.

Guinea Bissau moved up an incredible 40 places after they booked a first ever appearance at the Nations Cup by securing their place in Gabon.

The story is opposite for Nigeria who have fallen to 70th in the world and 17th in the rankings of the African continent after their failure to reach the Nations Cup in Gabon.

Despite missing out on the COPA AMERICA trophy last month, Argentina are still top of the June ranking but only after a month of action that resulted in plenty of movement further down.

Marc Wilmot’s Belgium might have not met expectations at EURO 2016 but they maintained their 2nd position while winners Portugal and host nation France leapfrogged Spain and Brazil into 6th and 7th place respectively.

Wales moved 15 places to 11th in the world after their brilliant run at Euro 2016 that led them to the semi finals only to be halted by eventual winners Portugal.

Neighbours England have moved two places down to 13th. The ranking also acknowledged the efforts of Iceland at the Euros. They have moved 12 places up the ranking to 22nd in the World and 15th in Europe.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on 11 August 2016.
