The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Jacob Kor, has sent a stern warning to head teachers who grant interviews to journalists when they run out of teaching and learning materials.

According to Mr Kor, there are laid-down channels of alerting authorities in the face of shortage of teaching materials and all headteachers must use those channels.

“Beginning September any person who gets to the media on educational issues without due permission we will not let the rod unspared.”

Mr Kor made this known on Tuesday, September 6, when GES presented some educational materials to schools in the Ashanti Region ahead of reopening next week.

“Henceforth, we don’t want to hear teachers in the media,” he warned, pointing out that all those who would want to talk to any media firm should seek permission from the district directors through the circuit supervisors.

“I am not here threatening but the law is there.”

Mr Kor said a week or two before materials get finished, head teachers must quickly place orders for new stock.
