Chief Executive Officer of Kumawood Festival and Akoben Awards, Samuel Kwabena Darko popularly known as Samdakus, has revealed how he generated the name Kumawood.
Kumawood has become the name used for the film industry in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
In an interview with Ola Michael on Neat FM’s Entertainment GH on Wednesday, Samdakus disclosed that he got the name Kumawood after sleeping in a coffin.
In his explanation, he said he was on the set of a movie and one scene required that he sleep in a coffin.
He indicated that because he had overworked himself, he slept off in the coffin and even when the director indicated the end of the shoot, he was still asleep, scaring the people around who thought he was dead.
Samdakus revealed that his soul went out of his body at that time and that is how God gave him the name Kumawood.
