I wasn’t paid for my feature on NPP ‘Nana Y3 Winner’ campaign song – SHE

Vocalist Yvonne Ohene Djan, widely recognized as SHE (the voice behind the stars), has disclosed that she did not accept payment for singing the popular New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s campaign song ‘Nana y3 winner.’
As the vocalist behind the memorable chorus “Nana Nana y3 winner,” SHE contributed her voice to the song composed by Daddy Lumba for President Akufo-Addo’s 2012 election campaign.

In an interview with AJ Sarpong on 3FM Drive, SHE shared that she was in a hurry that day, with plans to leave for the US the next day. Daddy Lumba pleaded with her to wait and assist him in working on one last song, to which she agreed.

President Akufo-Addo later approached her at Kwabena Kwabena’s wedding in 2012 and asked her to come for her payment.
“Nana actually told me the day he met me at Kwabena’s wedding to come for my payment. Even his wife commended me for the song. He wanted to honour me but I couldn’t go, but I will go for it,” she shared.

She extended her appreciation for the President’s invitation and clarified that, during that period, she had no reservations about being featured on political songs, viewing music as simply music, regardless of the audience.
