At a recent event, seasoned Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, delivered a stern warning to parents, emphasizing the need to question the source of their children’s wealth to avoid premature deaths. The veteran actor expressed concern about a growing trend of youth involvement in illicit activities and corruption.
During his address, Kanayo O Kanayo directly implored parents to take a proactive approach in monitoring their children’s financial activities. He highlighted instances where parents overlook the legitimacy of extravagant gifts, such as a 20-year-old daughter owning a N1.5 million phone but offering only N100,000 to her parents without explaining the source of her wealth.
The actor also cautioned against turning a blind eye when a non-working son arrives home with significant sums of money or a car. Kanayo stressed the importance of parental vigilance in combating social ills and unhealthy practices among the youth.
In a passionate plea, he urged parents to ask questions before accepting gifts, linking this caution to the premature deaths of some parents.
“Parents! Parents! Parents! Ask questions before you accept gifts or die young. This is why many parents are dying young. ORIKO,” he emphasized.
He argued that parental complacency only perpetuates corrupt mindsets in their children, and actively participating in guiding their children can contribute to fostering a healthier society.
