Assembly members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) are demanding the resignation of Chief Executive Kojo Bonsu for what they describe as total disrespect towards Manhyia Palace and, for that matter, the Golden Stool.

The Stool is believed to be the spirit and soul of Ashantis both home and abroad.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, June 20, the spokesperson for the assemblymen, Nana Kofi Senyah, said Kojo Bonsu in a letter dated June 13, 2016 stated that Manhyia has no formal notification of status on the Kejetia Central Market project and that Manhyia has to clear the issue of their representation on the project with appropriate evidence to enable them to update their records.

Distancing themselves from the letter, the assembly members apologised to the Manhyia palace and the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The KMA members also accuse Mr Bonsu and his Special Assistant, Sammy Gyamfi of taking GH¢ 25,000 each for a Kejetia stall instead of the agreed GH¢ 1,500.00.

The assembly members see this as a collusion between Mr Bonsu and the Local Government Minster and the Ashanti Regional Minster to prevent transparency in the allocation of Kejetia stalls.

The Assembly members are therefore calling on Kojo Bonsu to resign and render an unqualified apology to the Manhyia palace, the Golden Stool and especially Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
