Kuami Eugene reacts to critics who say he doesn’t deserve Artiste of the Year award

Newly crowned Artiste of the Year, Eugene Marfo known in showbiz as Kuami Eugene has responded to claims that he doesn’t deserve the award.

Social media was on fire on Saturday night after Kuame Eugene was announced as the Artiste of the Year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

While many people said Sarkodie and Kofi Kinaata were more deserving of the award, others felt he was the rightful winner and should have even won in the 2019 edition of the event.

One of the critics was rapper Guru, who in a tweet said Sarkodie deserved the award and asked Charterhouse and Kuami Eugene to take the award to the Highest artiste.

However, reacting to the criticism on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Kuami Eugene said even if Sarkodie had won people would have still said he didn’t deserve it.

According to him, those things are normal explaining that if Kofi Kinaata had won, fans from Sarknation would have said he didn’t deserve it and it would have been the same for the other nominees.

He said while people were criticising, there were others who were also saying he had gotten what he deserved so he was not worried because everyone was entitled to his opinion.

Asked if he will reject an offer to collaborate with Guru after his rant, Kuami Eugene said no adding that he was a strong fan of the ‘Lapaz Toyota’ hitmaker.
