Male Gay Couple In Zimbabwe Put Under House Arrest; Given 12 Months For One To Get Pregnant Or They Get Death Penalty

It keeps on getting interesting how the issue of LGBTQ+ continues to make news around the African continent. A court in Zimbabwe has ordered the house arrest of gay couple and confinement for 12 months. The confinement the court deem will give them enough time to bring another human being into the world as they were brought into the world by birth.

The punishment for not being able to give birth to any child will be the death penalty. Same-sex marriage is banned by the Zimbabwe Constitution, and LGBT people enjoy no legal protections from discrimination, violence, and harassment. Members of the LGBT community are heavily marginalized in both the legal and social spheres.

” The natural law is clear. The man was created and given the obligation to procreate. Marriage is the cornerstone and pillar to that noble duty. Our African values protect this natural law, and if we are to bend and allow such, we must first be shown that this new, western culture will uphold the natural law and continue procreation …” Justice Mhelube ruled.

We’ll be back after a year to inform you if indeed they were able to give birth.
