John Dumelo will never be president in Ghana – Ajagurajah

0

Bishop Ajagurajah, the leader of the Ajagurajah movement, asserts that actor-turned-politician John Dumelo will never be chosen as the nation’s president.
Despite Dumelo gaining attention and some predicting a future presidency since entering politics, Bishop Ajagurajah disagrees. He advises Dumelo to focus on other endeavors instead of pursuing the dream of becoming Ghana’s president.

Bishop Ajagurajah, claiming to have observed discussions on social media, notes that while many Ghanaians express a desire to see Dumelo as president in the future, he believes Dumelo has no chance of winning the presidency based on his observations. Instead, he envisions Zanetor Rawlings, the daughter of former President JJ Rawlings, as a potential future president.

Actor John Dumelo is set to re-enter the political arena on December 7, 2024, aiming to win a parliamentary seat in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. In his previous attempt in 2020, he narrowly lost to incumbent MP Mad. Lydia Alhassan.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom singles out GUM and NDC as the primary contenders in the 2024 Election

0

Founder and Leader of the Ghana Union Movement, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, commonly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, confidently states that the 2024 election is primarily a contest between the NDC and GUM.
He asserts that Vice President Bawumia is trailing far behind, declaring, “Bawumia has nothing good for the country; he is an individual who is very tired.”

Osofo Kyiri Abosom questions Bawumia’s unfulfilled promises, noting, “The sort of things he preached in opposition he will do for Ghanaians when he’s in power, he’s not been able to do any of them. So what else does he have for Ghana?” Expressing skepticism about former President John Mahama, he advises Mahama to refrain from talking a lot and making bogus promises during the campaign.

Parliament Approves 3- to 5-Year Sentences for LGBTQ+ Advocacy and Support

0

The Ghanaian Parliament has approved a minimum custodial sentence of three years and a maximum of five years for those involved in promoting, sponsoring, or supporting LGBTQ+ activities in Ghana.
MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, clarified that public concern primarily revolves around the advocacy and promotion of LGBTQ+ agendas rather than individuals’ private behavior during deliberations on the bill concerning human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values.
Sam George explained the breakdown of the sentences, stating, “For individuals caught engaging in these activities themselves, the punishment ranges from a minimum of six months to a maximum of three years. However, for those actively promoting, sponsoring, or supporting such agendas, the penalty increases to a minimum of three years and a maximum of five years.”
This decision reflects the Ghanaian Parliament’s commitment to upholding traditional values and societal norms amid ongoing debates surrounding LGBTQ+ rights and cultural acceptance. The Bill can now proceed to become law, as concerns raised against the initial provisions seem to have been addressed.

Bridget Otoo Questions VP Bawumia’s Tax Pledges

0

Media personality, Bridget Otoo took issue with Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s commitment to eliminate several taxes, including the electronic transaction levy (E-levy), betting tax, and the newly introduced emission levy.

Bridget Otoo highlighted perceived inconsistencies in the Vice President’s actions during his time in opposition compared to his current role and the promises he is making.

In one of her posts, Otoo aimed to shed light on what she perceives as a pattern among politicians, especially Vice President Bawumia, of creating issues only to present solutions afterward. This sentiment reflects her skepticism about the motives behind the proposed tax reforms.

Moreover, she cast doubt on the legitimacy of Dr. Bawumia’s present pledge, questioning his commitment given his prior involvement in the implementation of the E-levy.
She pointedly remarked, “The man who said it is wrong to tax momo in opposition supported the taxation of momo with the introduction of e-levy. Today he says he would not tax Bet. I hope you know what it means #BawuliarSpeaks.”

In a separate post, Bridget Otoo underscored her skepticism about Bawumia’s promises, reminding the nation that the Vice President has been making lofty statements since 2015 without substantial outcomes.

She consistently used the hashtag #BawuliarSpeaks to align herself with others who criticize Bawumia’s speeches, suggesting a broader sentiment of mistrust.

Dr. Bawumia, in his address on February 7, 2024, expressed his desire to eliminate taxes on emissions, gambling, and electronic transactions. He highlighted the economic benefits, emphasizing that scrapping the E-levy would aid the transition to a cashless economy. Additionally, he made promises to do away with gaming taxes, the carbon tax, and the 15% power tax by 2025.

However, despite the Vice President’s assurances, citizens reacted with more anger than hope. Social media became a platform for venting frustrations, showcasing a collective discontent with the proposed tax reforms and Bawumia’s overall track record.

Those richer than you are humble, you’re not a star – LilWin to Martha Ankomah

0

LilWin has recently voiced strong criticism towards fellow actress Martha Ankomah, expressing his concern about her remarks on Kumawood movies. He emphasized the humility of wealthier individuals and questioned Martha’s self-proclaimed star status, stating, “Martha, those who are richer than you are rather humble and respect themselves a lot.”
LilWin also raised eyebrows at her selection as a brand ambassador over established actors like McBrown and Mercy Asiedu.

Moving on, LilWin compared Martha’s approach to that of other actors like Van Vicker and Roselyn Ngissah, highlighting their collaborative efforts in Kumawood productions.
He stated, “The likes of Van Vicker, Roselyn Ngissah and co, do not do these things. They even work with us. They shoot Kumawood movies.”
Additionally, he pointed out instances where notable Nigerian actors participated in Kumawood films, saying, “Patience Ozorkwor came to Kumasi to shoot a movie. Aki and Pawpaw, Mr. Ibu and the rest came down to shoot a movie here.”

LilWin questioned the contribution of refined actors like Martha, asking, “But for people like you, who call yourselves refined actors; how many times do these Nigerians come to Ghana to shoot movies? They are the ones who rather send for you guys.”

Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, the Founder and Leader of the Ghana Union Movement, dismisses Nana Kwame Bediako, aka Cheddar, as a presidential aspirant, calling him a mere joke wasting resources.
Cheddar, Leader and Founder of The New Force, asserts that he’s running for president to address perceived shortcomings in Ghana. However, Osofo Kyiri Abosom suggests that Cheddar should redirect his funds from extravagant billboards to collaborating with like-minded parties for the country’s progress. Osofo Kyiri Abosom emphasizes that Cheddar’s current approach is futile, asserting that Ghanaians should continue accepting his money until he realizes the futility of his endeavor.

In an interview with Bonohene Baffuor Awuah on Ghana Kasa show on Kasapa 102.5FM, Osofo Kyiri Abosom shared his perspective, stating, “This man is joking; you can’t just enter the political landscape and contest to be President by mounting huge billboards here and there to waste money. Billboards don’t vote; it is huge money he’s throwing away, that’s why I say he’s joking.”

Asamoah Gyan’s captaincy was taken ‘by force’ – Laryea Kingston

0

Former Ghana winger Laryea Kingston says Asamoah Gyan is still unhappy due to how he lost the captaincy of the Black Stars.

Gyan’s role as captain changed to General captain with Andre Ayew taking over the armband before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The tournament marked Gyan’s last for Ghana as the Black Stars exited in the round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Tunisia.

Speaking on the challenges he faced as a player and drawing parallels to Gyan’s situation, Kingston highlighted the mistreatment some former players experienced under the national team management. According to Kingston, Gyan was not treated fairly during the transition of the captaincy to Andre Ayew.

“Black Stars have hurt a lot of former players. A lot of former players leave the national team with anger. So, he leaves without a good heart following the team because they pushed him away even when his time is not up,” Kingston told Graphic Sports. He specifically pointed to the case of Asamoah Gyan, suggesting that Ayew assumed the captaincy “by force,” leaving Gyan unhappy.

“Look at someone like Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew got the captaincy by force so if you are speaking to Asamoah now he is not happy. Myself, what they did to me for so many years I never supported the Black Stars but just recently I sat down and said it’s over let me focus”, he added.

Despite Gyan’s contributions and illustrious career, he faced challenges making a comeback into the national team due to inconsistencies in performance and battles with injuries.

He eventually retired from professional football in June 2023 bringing to an end an envious international career.

The former Sunderland man with 109 caps ended his career as Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals. He also holds the accolade as Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup with six goals.

Ghana vs Nigeria: Davido Says Ghana is Calm and Nicer

0

Nigerian afrobeats artist, Davido recently talked about the differences between Ghana and Nigeria. He compared Nigeria to the lively energy of New York and described Ghana as a calm place, similar to the relaxed atmosphere of California.

Davido explained that Ghana is attractive because it offers a peaceful lifestyle and good vacation options. Even though he’s from Nigeria, he likes visiting Ghana because of its open spaces and fewer people, making it a great place for a laid-back lifestyle.

“People tend to go to Ghana more because there are fewer people and space. There is more vacation,” he stated.

Despite his preference for Ghana, Davido acknowledged that Nigeria, especially Lagos, has a unique and diverse vibe. Lagos, according to him, represents the whole Nigerian experience, including both the challenges and successes of the culture.

“But if you are trying to eat everything in one; you want to see the bad part, great part, and everything. Go to Lagos. Everything is in that Lagos,” He added.
