“So, if you don’t understand why Nana Agradaa married her junior pastor [Asiamah] I don’t blame you,” he said while preaching to the congregation.

John Dumelo accuses Lydia Alhassan of sabotage

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo is accusing the MP of the constituency, Lydia Alhassan of sabotaging his works.

He indicates that the NDC has taken special initiatives including the donation of streetlights in the constituency that are yet to be installed.

John Dumelo, an actor and farmer, mentioned that work on major storm drains within the constituency has also stalled, posing a risk to residents.

He threatened to take the initiative if the incumbent MP failed to do so.

“When you have high levels of insecurity issues in the constituency, it becomes a problem and I can say nothing has changed in the last four years in terms of security. There are a lot of students around this area and day in and day out, you hear of folks on motorbikes snatching phones of students. Just last week someone died on the Legon Business School road because his phone was snatched, and it is surprising that up till now nothing has been heard from the sitting MP. It is as if she doesn’t care.”

“Months ago, I donated streetlights to the Legon authorities to be fixed and so even if when you are trying to solve the problem, you are being frustrated and if care is not taken, I will end up going on the ground and fixing these things myself because we cannot continue having people lose their lives to the insecurities.”

The NDC Chairman of the constituency, Bismark Aborbi Ayertey, while expressing frustration over the lack of developmental projects, called for eligible voters to vote for the party during the next election.

“We are calling on the constituents that this is the time they have to change their voting pattern so that we can capture this seat for once so that we can develop the constituency to enhance the living standards of the people.”

Feature new artistes as headliners for events – Mr Eazi

0

Renowned Nigerian musician and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, well-known as Mr. Eazi, has charged event organizers and promoters to bill up-and-coming artists at events.

That, he said, was the surest way to build talent and greatly contribute to their growth and development in the industry.

In a media interview about means to promote young talents, Mr. Eazi said that considering the exorbitant fees charged by top-tier artists, it would be wise for them to allow young artists to take the spotlight and help manage the costs associated with organizing concerts.

He emphasized the need for event organizers to manage and promote F-list artists to become D and C artists within a year by billing them to perform at festivals, community concerts, and other popular concerts for A-list musicians.

“Right now, if you are a promoter and you can’t afford A, B, or C artistes, you can book D, E, or F artistes because you can go to a radio station for them to play the songs of those artistes since they don’t have a popularity for people to be familiar with their songs, so that by December the concert would be held, they would gain attention by then,” Mr. Eazi said.

Ensuring up-and-coming or the F-list and D-list artists receive adequate media exposure prior to the event, he stated, would not only help establish their brand but also garner the attention they rightfully deserve when the show finally takes place.

Mr. Eazi, sharing valuable insights on how promoters could effectively groom underground artists emphasized that enabling them to confidently headline major musical concerts without solely relying on A-list performers was the surest way to hone and develop talents for the future.

It pays well to do gospel music in Nigeria not in Ghana – Sonnie Badu

0

Multiple award-winning UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician and songwriter, Dr. Sonnie Badu has expressed that gospel songs in Nigeria are more profitable than in Ghana.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray Thursday, December 7, the “Baba” hitmaker stated that it is not the fault of secular musicians not doing gospel songs.

“It is not their fault not to do gospel music, there is no money in it. They don’t get anything, they are not treated well.

“They just give them anything. There should be an avenue where if you are a gospel artist and if you go to Airport Shell you can pick anything you want for free. If you go to the Airport and you can jump on Delta, you can pick it up for free. You can go to the studio to record a song and the engineer will say hey you are a gospel artist it’s for free,” Dr. Badu stated.

He says he pays every musician who performs on his show including instrumentalists.

“So this work of God there is logistics for free but logistically there is a price to pay. I pay every musician on my show, everybody has an invoice. Every instrumentalist will be compensated.

“If you don’t have the balls you can’t do it, you can’t, don’t try it. And if you want to do me a favour in return for a favour I understand it. But nothing is for free in this world,” Dr. Badu stated.

Recall that, the gospel singer Sonnie Badu recently charged Nigerians to involve Ghanaian musicians in their shows to enable them to spread their tentacles while marketing their songs to a larger audience.

That, he noted, would make local gospel musicians make a global impact rather than singing in English.

Sonnie Badu made this appeal when he was reacting to the calls made by Nigerian gospel sensation Nathaniel Bassey for Ghanaian gospel musicians to sing in English for their songs to make global impacts.

According to Sonnie Badu, language was not a barrier in music; it all depended on time and season.
