The youth of Lambussie in the Upper West Region have chased out staff of their district assembly for failing to change the name of the assembly as ordered by a High Court.

An Accra High Court issued a 21-day ultimatum to the assembly to change its name from Lambussie- Karni to Lambussie district assembly following a suit filed by the youth.

According to the youth, although the 21 days has expired, the assembly has failed to change the name as per the court order, something that caused them to chase the staff out and lock the offices of the assembly last Friday.

They accused the District Chief Executive, Bom Kofi Dy-aka of playing politics with the issue hence their action.

They on Friday stormed the premises of the assembly where they locked the offices of the DCE, the District Coordinator, NADMO and the ICT Centre where some other offices of the assembly are located.

They struck out Karni from all government properties bearing the name Lambussie-Karni district, including the assembly’s cars, computers and signpost.

Meanwhile, they have promised to open the offices on Monday, August 22 but warned they will return in a week’s time if the assembly and the government fail to address the issue.
