Question papers for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) will be released to the over 1,500 centers 45 minutes before start, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said.
This is part of measures, according to GES, put in place to check leakage of the questions.
Last year’s exams supervised by the West African Examinations Council (Waec) saw mass leakages, leading to the cancellation of five papers.
According to the Director General of the Service, Jacob Kor, the tight measures have been adopted to ensure credible testing of the junior high school pupils.
“We want our children to be truthful, sincere and just in writing the examinations,” Mr Kor said on Wednesday, June 8.
The examinations are scheduled to start on Monday, June 13 and end on Friday, June 17.
Four hundred and sixty-one thousand, thirteen (461,013) candidates from 14,267 schools have registered to sit this year’s exams.
Out of the total number of candidates, 239,963 are males. Fifty-seven visually impaired have also registered.
Thorough checks, Mr Kor says, were made in the selection of the invigilators for exams. The invigilators have been warned against the use of electronic devices in exam halls.
Officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and Ghana Police Service have been engaged to monitor the transport of the question papers, some of which will be borne by air to the centers.
