Ghana and Black Star midfielder Andre Dede Ayew has signed a three-year deal with East London side West Ham United.

The left-footed attacker joins the Hammers on a record £20.5 million fee. He has the option to receive more in a two-year additional deal.

Ayew completed the move from Swansea City – where he enjoyed a debut season in the English Premier League – on Monday, August 8.

The former Olympique Marseille player could not hide his excitement at the move.

“I am very proud and happy to be at this magnificent Club,” he told the club’s website.

“I am happy to be playing for these fans and I hope to make the people very happy here.”

He heaved praise on the manager, Slaven Bilic, and the dream of the club especially as it plays in a new stadium.

“The Club have a lot of ambition and have a great manager. They want to become a bigger Club every year and with the new Stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving onto another level and I want to be part of this project.

“I want to train hard, do my job and show that I deserve to play for West Ham United. I want to give back to the manager and the fans the confidence they are showing me.”
