Efia Odo Opens Up on Heartbreak, Sharing Her Personal Journey to Healing

Actress turned musician, Efia Odo, revealed her coping mechanism after a heartbreak.
Having invested significantly in terms of finances, service, and emotions, she decided to leave Ghana for six months, seeking solace in America.

In an interview with Charlie Dior on Gh Queens Show, she shared how the heartbreak led her to a newfound connection with God and taught her the importance of self-love. Reflecting on the experience, Efia Odo emphasized the lesson that one should not prioritize loving others over loving oneself.
Despite the heartbreak not being her first, it served as a catalyst for personal growth, helping her discover self-worth and self-value.
“Before I got into that relationship, I was like if this relationship doesn’t work, I’m done. I don’t wanna be with nobody.” She detailed her emotional investment, saying, “I put so much into it financially, emotionally, supporting his family, supporting his dreams, and then when that relationship didn’t meet my expectations and it went south, it broke me because I put so much into it.”

Reflecting on the experience, she emphasized the lesson learned: “And it made me realize that you can’t love people more than you love yourself. This man made me learn self-worth, self-value. People see when you don’t value yourself. People see when you don’t love yourself…I literally found God.”

Describing the aftermath, she disclosed, “I went to America for 6 months because of that heartbreak. I literally left Ghana, went to America for 6 months, after I cried I was playing Gyakie’s song. I cried uncontrollably. My pillows were full of tears, but I cried my last cry in August, and after that last cry, that’s when I found myself.” Efia Odo emphasized this period as a turning point, declaring, “I told myself not to allow that to happen to me ever again.”
Efia Odo made it clear that her current priority is self-value, and she has redirected her attention towards achieving financial independence. Additionally, she dispelled the misconception that Kwesi Arthur was the one who caused her heartbreak but opted not to reveal the true identity of the person involved.
