Hundreds of children turn up for ‘My First Day at School’

The Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman has expressed excitement with the number of children of school going age that turned up for the 2016/2017 basic school academic year.

The minister who was in the Central Region for this years edition applauded parents for bringing their wards to school and pleaded that it should be the norm; where parents encourage their children to go to school.

The minister visited the Jukwa D/E School, Watreso Basic School, and Apewosika Basic Schools where she gave out uniforms, sandals and stationery to some deprived pupils who against all odds made it to school.

TV3’s Central regional correspondent, Spencer Kwabena Boateng Mensah who was following the minister said “the minister in addition, the Apewosika school near the University of Cape Coast were given twenty laptops from the Education ministry in response to their quest for improving the study of ICT.

The minister is expected to commission a Kindagarteen at Komenda Primary School in Elmina later in the day.
