I never disrespected Wiyaala but I am sorry – JMJ apologizes

Ghanaian music producer, JMJ has issued an apology to singer Wiyaala for a comment he made about her that has generated controversy.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s ‘Daybreak Hitz,’ JMJ said he had no ill intentions towards her.

JMJ was part of a panel discussion and said female artistes had been on the quiet after Kaakie, MzVee and Ebony shook the scene with hit songs. He singled out Wiyaala for praise saying she could be an exception.

Then on Ghanaweb TV’s Bloggers’ Forum, pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, disagreed with JMJ saying Wiyaala was more focused on the international music market.

That did not go down well with Wiyaala who posted a video on social media asking Arnold, JMJ and other entertainment critics not to talk about her.

JMJ expressed shock at Wiyaala’s outburst, saying he never disrespected her.

“The only time I mentioned Wiyaala’s name on air was when I was giving praises to her. And you know the funny thing about the whole video? Amongst all the female artistes in Ghana, the most revered, the one that pundits don’t even say anything ugly about is that girl.

“So, the energy she came out with saying that, it’s as though she’s been having a lot of this but I can’t even remember a publication that disrespected Wiyaala.

“The only time I mentioned her was when I was praising her so I was shocked to see her video and such a wild outburst on me,” he said.

He added, “So, I asked myself, was it wrong that I said ‘but for the likes of Wiyaala who is doing well out there?’ If I was wrong that she’s doing well out there, then I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.”
