I’m happy Obinim flogged my child – Mother of Iliasu

Obinim

Mother of the 16-year-old boy beaten in the full glare of the congregation of the International Godsway Church by the General Overseer, Bishop Daniel Obinim, says she is extremely happy with the action taken by the “Angel of God”.

Lady Joy told TV3’s Catherine Frimpongmaa last Friday that the teenager was getting on her nerves and wished he had been flogged worse than that captured on camera.

The beating of the boy, Iliasu, and a 14-year-old lady received public condemnation after the video of the act went viral on social media.

While Bishop Obinim justified the action, the public has called for his prosecution. Court action has already been taken against him.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.

The mother of the 14-year-old lady, whose ‘crime’ was aborting a pregnancy with Iliasu, has also given thumbs-up to the pastor’s action.

Akua Bimpomaa said what Bishop Obinim did was in the right direction.

Bishop Obinim has questioned the grounds for which he will be prosecuted for his action, describing all those preferring public charges against him as having misplaced priorities.

He said he acted on the directive of the Holy Spirit and, so, does not regret what he did to the  two.
