Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is pleading with Ghanaians to put the infamous Brazil saga behind them, and rally round the team to restore to boost the players’ morale to qualify for the next World Cup in Russia.

The Stars ahead of their final group game against Portugal in the Brazil 2014 World Cup, boycotted training over bonuses, something that attracted backlash from fans and supporters. The issue, coupled with the eventual flying of money from Ghana to Brazil to pay them has caused disaffection against the team.

A key talking point within the  Black Stars camp has been the growing apathy towards the team, with senior players keen to meet the various supporter unions  in an attempt to rally the fans round the team again.

Ahead of the team’s 2018 World Cup qualifying game against Uganda, the Udinese player is urging Ghanaians to forget the incident and turn up in their numbers at the Tamale Sports Stadium to cheer them on.

“We know they will come back but it’s just a matter of time so we are just appealing to them to come to the stadium to help us because without them we it will be very difficult for us,” he told TV3.

“I am appealing [sic] to the supporters and the whole nation for what happened in Brazil and know we have to open a new era so we are on it and hope it will get easy for us”.
