British media giant The Sun newspaper has reported that former president John Dramani Mahama is complicit in a £5million Airbus bribery scandal.
In a report in its Tuesday edition, The Sun newspaper claimed an international arrest warrant had been issued by Ghanaian authorities for the arrest of ex-Corrie star Phil Middlemiss and three other people including the brother of John Dramani Mahama.
Phil Middlemiss, who played womanizing bookie Des Barnes on Corrie for eight years, was named by investigators in Ghana.
According to the report, 56-year-old Middlemiss moved to Ghana after leaving the ITV soap to make movies but he unfortunately ran out of money.
He then converted into a travel consultant and even went ahead to state in one of his interviews that his best friend’s brother was the vice president of the country.
Currently, he’s wanted for questioning over the sale of three Airbus C295 military planes to Ghana at the cost of £5million.
Flagbearer of the opposition New Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has also been accused of having links to the corrupt network which received kickbacks during the contract process.
The report also said special prosecutor, Martin Amidu launched a formal investigation in February and revealed he had summoned four people and had released their passport details online.
