Medikal gets real on Ghana’s tough economy, admitting he feels it too

Rapper Medikal recently opened up about the economic challenges in Ghana, sharing his insights during an interview with Mercury Qyaye on Hitz FM.
He not only addressed the difficulties people face in making ends meet amidst daily price hikes but also acknowledged the impact on his own life despite his successful career.

In the interview, Medikal expressed, “Me as a person, I’m an artist, I’m getting paid enough to have a 3 course meal, daily meal for myself and my family. I’ll lie if I tell you that the economy be hard.”

While he enjoys financial stability, he empathetically recognized the struggles faced by his family, friends, and fans, urging the government to take more significant steps to improve the overall economic and living conditions in the country.

He emphasized the pervasive nature of complaints, stating, “I know that the government can do better to make citizens in the country very happy. Because the complaints be too much. Everybody dey complain.”

Medikal illustrated the tangible effects of economic challenges through personal experiences, particularly with rising fuel prices: “Me myself sometimes adey buy fuel and be like heh no be just yesterday wey 1000gh full op my tank? So why today afor buy 1500gh before I get a full tank? In a way me sef I still dey feel am, and this be me somebody wey dey get something wey dey give me stable income so imagine the person wey edey struggle maybe edey take 1000gh a month. Efor pay ein bills …Edey suffer.”

His remarks highlighted the bigger economic problems in Ghana, urging the government to step in and help people facing difficulties in their daily lives.
