Nigeria’s Rema Makes History: First African Artist to Secure Chinese Music Award

Nigerian music sensation, Rema also known as Divine Ikubor, has secured a historic milestone by becoming the first African artist to win a Chinese music award.

His global impact is on an upward trajectory as he adds another accolade to his impressive list. The ‘Calm Down’ remix with American superstar Selena Gomez earned him the Best Collaboration of the Year title at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.
The award, presented by Hit FM, Taiwan, and hosted by DJ Andy, aligns Rema with a select group of international musicians who have received this Taiwanese honor, alongside American and British artists. Noteworthy is Taylor Swift, the celebrated American global pop star, who dominates the awards ceremony with over six wins.
