Eastern Region GJA Executives sworn into office

Koforidua, July 1, GNA-The re-elected Eastern Regional Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) have been sworn into office at the Koforidua High Court.

They are Mr Maxwell Kudekor (Regional Chairman) and McAnthony Dagyenga (Regional Secretary) went into the elections unopposed, to retain their respective positions for the second term, which is a three-year mandate.

The Regional Vice Chairman and Treasurer positions were not contested.

Her Ladyship Justice Mrs Gifty Dekyem, Supervising High Court Judge of Eastern Region, administered the oaths of office in her chambers at the Koforidua High Court complex.

Addressing the media, Mr Kudekor was hopeful that by the end of their term, the proposed press centre for the region to be situated in Koforidua would be completed to further boost media activities.

Already, the GJA has acquired land in a prime area in Koforidua for that purpose.

He also observed that the GJA would focus on building the capacities of members in the region through a series of training workshops in line with the national agenda of rebranding the association.

The Regional Chairman called on all journalists in the region to get on board and support the leadership to be able to execute their mandate efficiently.
