Okere MP Dan Botwe robbed at gunpoint with family

Dan Botwe's houseMember of Parliament for Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region, Daniel Kwaku Botwe, and his family have been robbed at gunpoint at his residence in Tema Community 20.

Items such as mobile phones, jewels, undisclosed amount of both local and foreign currencies, laptop and other valuables were taken away in the Friday dawn robbery.

The MP, his wife, security man and other occupants of the house were unhurt as they surrendered to the demands of the robbers.

Meanwhile the Police in Tema have arrested two people in connection with the Friday dawn’s robbery and are currently assisting in investigations.

Special Aide to Mr Botwe, Emmanuel Attefuah Danso, told host of Onua FM’s Yen Sempa, Kwame Karikari that the suspected robbers first attacked a security guard opposite Mr Botwe’s house and took some valuables.

He said they then took the security guard hostage and ordered him to lead them to Mr Botwe’s house. Mr Botwe was said to have returned from the Eastern Region last night where he monitored the on-going limited voters registration.

Mr. Attefuah said while in the house, the three suspects pounced on Mr Botwe and ordered him to surrender and within 45 minutes, they carried out the operation.

He said Mr. Dan Botwe did not struggle with them so no one was hurt in the process.
