Musician Efia Odo has announced she is considering supporting Cheddar and the New Force in the upcoming election.
She believes voting for Cheddar is safer than supporting any other party or presidential candidate in Ghana.
Efia Odo criticized the two leading parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming they are virtually identical, with the only difference being that one is “more evil.” Consequently, she may not vote for either party in December 2024.
Expressing her thoughts on her X platform, she emphasized the need for change, accusing Ghanaian politicians of deceiving citizens for too long.
“I might just vote for Cheddar and the New Force, Chaley, because both NPP and NDC are the same, just that one is more evil. It’s really time for a change. These politicians have been fooling us for too long with their exaggerated grammar,” she said.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has clarified its regulatory stance on products making spiritual claims, including those sold by “kayanmata” sellers, which are purported to influence others’ will, attract love, ensure debt repayment, and perform other miraculous feats.
This clarification follows the arrest and subsequent bail of Fella Makafui for selling unregistered drugs, false advertising, and publishing unapproved adverts, as cited by the FDA.
During the arrest, a variety of products were seized from her Mempeasem shop, including Fertility Tea (Fibroid and Womb Tea), Butt and Hips Enlargement Syrup, Butt and Hip Enlargement Oil, Booty Cream, Booty Scrub, Hip and Big Butt Tea, Breast Firming and Enlargement Cream, Vagina Detox Pearls, Male Sexual Vitality Tea, Spice Herbal Infection Mixture, Yoni Wash Gel, Orgasmic Gel, Weight Gain Syrup, Spice Coded Powder, Tiger Herbal Mixture, and Sweet Drip Honey.
Since her arrest, social media users have drawn the FDA’s attention to similar products promoted by other influencers, such as Hajia Bintu’s advertisements for spiritual products.
On the X platform, the FDA explained that it is not legally authorized to regulate products claiming spiritual effects. “Per the law, the FDA is not mandated to oversee products that make spiritual claims,” the FDA stated.

Oh this is callous. Are you not mandated to regulate the safety of cosmetic products? They are instructing people to apply these products to their bodies and you’re saying the contents and safety of the ingredients in the oils don’t concern you because it makes spiritual claims? https://t.co/TT8PXHYE6n
Actress-turned-musician Efia Odo has reaffirmed that she earns her money legally.
Now running a restaurant, she shared that although she isn’t bothered by public opinion, she felt the need to address the matter.
She noted that some people are curious about her financial sources. On Snapchat, she posted videos of herself spending money, prompting a fan to call her a “big girl.” Efia Odo replied that such spending is “normal” for her and that she doesn’t show off as much as she could.
She pointed out that if she were making money through illegal means, she would have far more wealth, like owning a private jet.
She explained, “A lot of people have a perception that I do ash*wo. I don’t give a f*ck what y’all think but I just wanna clear the air: i don’t do ash*wo. If I did ash*wo heh charlie, yeah. But I make my money legally, ash*wo is illegal just to let you know.”
“I don’t flex enough … and i don’t gotta s*ck d*ck for a couple of dollars. If I was s**king d**k I’ll be on a private jet,”she added.

Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been arrested after confessing to detonating dynamite in the Volta Region during the 2016 elections.
He is currently in police custody, assisting the Ghana Police Service with their investigations.
Sources report that Mr. Adorye was arrested on Wednesday, May 22, following a revealing interview on Accra FM on May 10.
During the interview, he admitted to being part of a plot to use dynamite explosions to intimidate voters in the National Democratic Congress stronghold, thereby aiding an NPP victory. Mr. Adorye, who now serves as the director of special duties for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, described how the dynamite blasts were intended to scare voters in the opposition-dominated Volta Region. He claimed this tactic was orchestrated by the NPP.
“Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region, and when I asked for the number of people who had voted and the expected number of voters, it turned out people did not come out to vote,”he said.
The police are currently investigating these claims.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Controller & Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) have released findings from their investigation into the Government of Ghana Payroll Administration.
This investigation focused on employees in the Northern Region.
According to the joint statement, the payroll system for educational institutions under the Ghana Education Service and the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region is managed by an alarming number of unauthorized and inactive validators. It was discovered that GH¢2.8 million was paid in monthly salaries to ‘ghost names’—individuals who were deceased, retired, no longer in service, or listed as missing.
The investigation also revealed that a primary school in the Kumbungu District was non-existent but had staff being paid monthly salaries.
“A staggering amount of GH¢2,854,144.80 was identified as fraudulent monthly salaries, attributed to individuals who were deceased, retired, no longer in their positions, flagged as missing, or whose whereabouts were unknown, commonly referred to as ‘ghost names,'” the statement said.
“By blocking these payments and removing the corresponding individuals from the government payroll, the Republic saved GH¢34,249,737.60 for the 2024 financial year. Additionally, ongoing savings are expected in subsequent years, along with potential upward pay adjustments, thanks to the detection of these fraudulent salaries facilitated by the joint investigation of the OSP.”
The OSP and CAGD are conducting an enhanced investigation into the educational institutions under the Ghana Education Service in the Northern Region and the Tamale Teaching Hospital. This investigation aims to prosecute those who promoted the non-existent school and validated deceased, untraceable, and retired persons, as well as those who have vacated their posts. Future phases of the investigation will extend to the remaining fifteen regions.
Canadian rapper Drake has lost $565,000 after betting on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk.
This marks another significant gambling loss for the famous singer. Before the fight, Drake revealed on Instagram that he had wagered $565,000 on Fury to win. If Fury had emerged victorious, Drake would have collected just over $1 million.
However, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in Saudi Arabia, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in 24 years. With this victory, Usyk added Fury’s WBC title to his existing WBA, IBF, and WBO belts.
Previously, Drake lost a six-figure sum when Anthony Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou and another $700,000 after Dricus Du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland at UFC 297. He also bet $1 million on Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but lost because the match was decided by penalty kicks. Additionally, he lost $2 million Canadian dollars when Israel Adesanya suffered a shocking knockout loss to Alex Pereira in November 2022.
Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, has died in a helicopter crash in a mountainous area of north-western Iran, according to state media.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also perished in the crash on Sunday. Initial reports suggested the helicopter made a rough landing in foggy conditions.
Raisi, 63, was a potential successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The helicopter went down in a remote area of north-western Iran while returning from Azerbaijan, where Raisi had been meeting President Ilham Aliyev.
On Monday, the Iranian Red Crescent confirmed that the bodies of Raisi and others had been recovered, ending the search operations. The organization’s chief stated on state television that the bodies were being transferred to Tabriz. Local media reported that Raisi was in the area to inaugurate the Qiz Qalasi and Khodaafarin dams. Before his death was officially confirmed, vigils were held in Tehran, with images showing people kneeling in prayer.
Raisi, a hard-line cleric closely aligned with Khamenei, was considered a potential successor to the 85-year-old Supreme Leader. His election as president in 2021 consolidated conservative control over the Islamic Republic. In a statement following his death, the Iranian government said it would continue to operate “without disruption.”
Several countries expressed condolences. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a national day of mourning, describing Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian as “good friends of Iran.” India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sadness and shock on social media.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated his government was in full contact and coordination with Iranian authorities and ready to provide any necessary support. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian “true, reliable friends of our country.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has criticized the alarming surveillance footage depicting Sean Diddy Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, yet they lack the legal grounds to press charges.
The footage, dated March 5, 2016, depicts Diddy at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, despite his previous denial of Ventura’s assault allegations.
In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room followed by Diddy, who forcefully grabs her by the neck, throws her to the ground, and kicks her. After a brief interval, he kicks her again and drags her towards a room.
The district attorney’s office, in a statement released on Instagram on Friday, clarified that despite the distressing content of the footage, they are unable to pursue legal action due to the statute of limitations.
“We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles,” the statement said. “We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.”
The statement added that if the assault did occur in 2016, as reported by CNN, then they are “unfortunately” unable to press charges due to the incident falling outside the legal timeline for prosecuting assault.
American rapper Sean Love Combs, also known as Diddy, has apologized for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura after CNN released exclusive hotel surveillance footage from 2016 showing him grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking her.
In an Instagram video, he admitted,”My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.
“I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.” He added, “I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
Surveillance footage from March 5, 2016, seems to depict Diddy at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, during an incident with Cassie Ventura, despite his prior denial of her assault allegations.
In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room followed by Diddy, who, holding a towel around his waist, forcefully grabs her by the neck, throws her to the ground, and kicks her. After a brief interval, he kicks her again and drags her towards a room. Ventura is later seen standing up, gathering items, and reaching for a phone, while Diddy returns to shove her in front of a mirror and throws an object towards her.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement condemning the 2016 surveillance video. However, they stated their hands were tied due to the statute of limitations.

Actress and filmmaker Fella Makafui has released a statement addressing revelations made by rapper Medikal, her baby daddy.
This follows allegations Medikal made weeks ago when he announced their separation on the X app, stating they are now only co-parenting. Medikal has since accused Fella Makafui of physical abuse, undergoing cosmetic surgery he funded to promote her business, discarding her wedding ring during a solo trip to Dubai, not cooking for him for nearly two years, and living in separate rooms despite sharing the same house.
Fella Makafui’s statement confirms Medikal’s claim that they are no longer husband and wife, explaining that they are waiting for their families to finalize their divorce rites.
“I and my husband have, a few months ago, agreed to end our four-year marriage. We have, therefore, been waiting for our respective families to complete the required customary divorce rites,” her statement read.
She refutes Medikal’s claims, stating they are untrue and have caused significant harm to her personally, as well as to her family and businesses. “Recently, however, my husband has been making a little too many public statements on our marriage, our beloved daughter, my family, and my businesses. These public statements, considerable parts of which are a great departure from the truth, have caused significant hurt to me, my family, and to my businesses,” she said.
To address the situation, Fella Makafui emphasized her commitment to respecting their families, maintaining marital privacy, and acting in the best interest of their daughter.
“I have decided to resort to only lawful and appropriate forums to address my grievances,”she stated. She has initiated legal proceedings to ensure her and her daughter’s safety and to regulate co-parenting duties in accordance with the law.
Fella Makafui expressed her gratitude for the support she has received and requested privacy during this difficult time. “I am sincerely grateful for the extreme support given to me, my family, and my businesses and brand over the years. I plead for understanding and privacy during this challenging period,” she concluded.
