We didn’t know our father until we moved to Takoradi at age 14 – DopeNation

0

Ghanaian music duo DopeNation shared the details of their fourteen-year estrangement from their father, reconnecting when their mother changed careers, and the family moved to Takoradi.

DopeNation, comprising Michael and Tony Boafo, recalled how their Ewe mother moved to Takoradi for work without initially informing them that their Fante father resided there. Before the move, their mother worked as a caterer.

They highlighted that prior to their first meeting, there was no communication with their father. Their mother had informed them that their dad had traveled, giving them little insight into his absence. They mentioned that it didn’t bother them much as they had each other.

Touching on when they got to Takoradi, they said, “Our mother used to work for Unilever. Our dad worked as a principal at Takoradi Technical Institute, and she resided in a guest house, we were at the boys’ quarters.”

Meeting their father after years apart was described as an interesting experience. The recognition of their shared dark skin with their father marked a significant turning point. They humorously remarked, “Since our mother has fairly pale skin, we have always been curious about our ancestry. We look like dad in certain aspects, but altogether, we actually look like our mother.”

Their father reassumed the role of a father figure through gestures like buying them things, picking them up from school, and showing them his properties. Gradually, they forged a strong bond.

While they acknowledge that their current bond with him may not be very strong, they plan to visit him in the future, keeping the door open for further connection.

Build Mental Resilience Against Trolls – Okyeame Kwame to colleague celebrities

0

Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame, also known as ‘Rap Doctor,’ has recently stressed the vital need for developing mental resilience against online trolls, especially in the context of celebrity life.

In today’s digital era, where social media and other traditional platforms serve as immediate channel of communication and interaction, celebrities often become targets of criticism, negativity, and trolling. Having encountered criticism for sharing promotional content in his boxers, Okyeame Kwame appears to be sharing his coping strategy. He underscores the significance of mental resilience in addressing the detrimental effects of cyberbullying.

During a conversation with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Okyeame Kwame urged fellow celebrities to cultivate a resilient mindset, emphasizing that negative comments should not define one’s self-worth.

Highlighting the profound impact of constant public scrutiny on mental health, Okyeame Kwame encouraged individuals to prioritize self-care and emotional well-being. Through the development of mental resilience, celebrities can better shield themselves from the emotional toll imposed by online trolls.

“I think that you need to build mental resilience; personally. Because you need to understand that what people are doing, the world is not happening on your clock. Yes, you have 2.5 million followers on Instagram, but they are following you to see something. When people insult you on Twitter and Facebook and others, you shouldn’t own it because that is what they want to do.
“So build mental resilience and know that even though you are celebrated, the world is not happening on your clock, and I think that if you do this and listen to your body, you don’t intoxicate yourself with too much data, too much reading, with too much alcohol, with too much pills, with too much sex, and you are in tune with yourself, you can hear if your heart is about to get an attack,” he expressed.

Okyeame Kwame also expressed a strong opinion that the media and other participants in the entertainment industry hold a responsibility to protect the mental well-being of celebrities. He emphasized that certain media reports have adverse effects on the mental health of creatives.

“Artistes are human beings. They come to sit on platforms like this and speak out their hearts and share their vulnerable moments. And then you take that part out and twist it for clickbait, and then everyone is calling him. Because of that, some girl he wants to marry says no, people are beginning to see him in a certain light, because you want clickbait. If you love the artiste, stop that,” he added.

Recent videos of actress and show host, Nana Ama Mcbrown have sparked discussions about potential alterations to her face. Her face appears glazed, with noticeably thicker lips, leading some to speculate about lip fillers.
Social media users are criticizing her for possibly resorting to such procedures, and comparisons to her colleague Aba Dope, who openly discusses her lip fillers and other body alterations, have been drawn.

Her admirers are increasingly worried about a potential addiction to these procedures, finding it challenging to identify her as the person they once knew.
Not long ago, she took a hiatus from her TV shows and returned with a more prominent backside. Despite denying undergoing surgery, she later clarified that she had undergone liposuction, a cosmetic procedure for removing unwanted body fat, not a butt lift as initially speculated.

Some even go as far as suggesting that she resembles Aba Dope more than Aba Dope herself. Many are now hoping for the termination of their friendship, as they perceive it to have a detrimental impact on Nana Ama Mcbrown.

Reasons people opt for lip fillers include age-related changes, correcting lip shape, smoothing wrinkles, and boosting confidence.

We are Ghana’s only virgins; we’ve never dated before – DopeNation claims

0

Music duo, DopeNation, have boldly declared themselves as the last virgins in Ghana, emphasizing their lack of dating experience.

Speaking about relationships on The Delay Show, they shared profound perspectives on love.

“We are not dating; the world is complex, and you experience a lot of stuff. Most people in love happen to be in a situation, and it is all in your head,” they stated.

Continuing, they outlined the distinctions between the joy of being in love, the potential heartbreak, and the rollercoaster of emotions.

The musicians expressed skepticism about love, declaring, “Love is a scam because it is only real when you believe in it. If you don’t believe in it, it’s like a facade.”

When questioned about dating specifically, the duo made a clear differentiation, stating, “No, that is not love; it is a commitment, and being committed to someone is expensive, especially in this part of the world.”

DopeNation underscored the costly nature of commitment and highlighted disparities between the worldviews of men and women.

Openly sharing their thoughts on love, they admitted, “Maybe we’ve not reached the status when we’d fall in love completely.”

As the conversation unfolded, the musical pair revealed a surprising fact: “We are Ghana’s only and last virgins; we’ve never dated before. We’ve not had any sexual encounters.”

Moesha’s GoFundMe: Should ‘Toyota and Low-Grade Car Owners’ Contribute? – Koka

0

Entertainment pundit, Koka, expressed his opposition to the call for ‘all and sundry’ to contribute funds to Moesha Boduong’s GoFundMe account.
According to him, those who benefitted from Moesha in her prime should be the ones supporting her in her time of need. Koka stressed this viewpoint during a discussion on HitzFM, saying, “Sometime ago, Moesha said she doesn’t date poor boys. Now, do you want the people who are using Toyota and low-grade cars to contribute to her GoFundMe? We should be careful about the things we say.”
He emphasized the importance of contributors being individuals who had previously benefited from Moesha, adding, “I hope Moesha’s phone is still there. All the people who benefited, I hope they are still there. All the people who got her the plane tickets and invited her to parties, I hope they are there, data doesn’t lie.” Koka called out Moesha’s friend cum business partner, Kofi Asamoah, stating, “Where is Kofi Asamoah? He was the pimp man, taking these girls to all the big places. Now where is he? This tells you to choose the people you associate with carefully because now all Moesha has is her brother.”
Notably, various celebrities, including Efya, Becca, Gloria Sarfo, and Akuapem Poloo, have supported the cause either through social media advocacy or direct donations to the GoFundMe account.
