We also pay bills, pay us for our services- Obaapa Christy advocates for gospel artistes

Ghanaian gospel artiste, Obaapa Christy firmly advocates for compensating gospel musicians for their performances.

She asserts, “We pay bills and other expenses, so yes, we need to get paid for our services, be it at a church or wherever. Studio fees, backup singers, among others, do not come free. We pay for them, so how can we continue to fulfill our obligations if we offer our services for free?”
Stressing the need for fair compensation to cover costs like studio fees and backup singers, she aims to maintain the professionalism of gospel music. Recently, Obaapa Christy released a new single, “Ebesesa,” on February 1st, along with a music video shot by Skyweb in Ghana. The song, translating to “it will change” in Akan, delivers a message of hope and perseverance in the challenging times post-COVID-19, offering encouragement to those facing difficult circumstances.
