LGBTQ Persons in Ghana Never Asked For Marriage But Rather Basic Human Rights and Peace – Sister Derby responds to John Mahama

0

Musician Sister Derby, is sharing her thoughts on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) matters, emphasizing that the community isn’t just seeking marriage rights but basic human rights and the right to live peacefully. She believes Ghanaian politicians are cautious with their words, choosing to oppose same-sex marriage instead of outright expressing disagreement with the LGBTQ community to maintain relationships with queer acquaintances and business partners.

This discussion was prompted by the National Democratic Congress’ flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, who clearly stated his opposition to LGBTQ activities during a recent breakfast meeting. According to Mahama, his faith and personal beliefs guide his stance against LGBTQ, emphasizing traditional gender roles.

Responding to Mahama’s comments, Sister Derby remarked on TV3’s Instagram post, pointing out that politicians carefully phrase their opposition to same-sex marriage, taking advantage of global differences in acceptance. She stressed that LGBTQ individuals in Ghana simply want basic human rights and peace, criticizing the exploitation of homophobia and transphobia by politicians for votes influenced by religious beliefs.

As a member of the Assemblies of God, I’m strongly against LGBTQ – John Mahama

0

Former President John Dramani Mahama has openly declared his stance on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community, asserting that as a devoted Christian and a member of the Assemblies of God, he opposes any form of LGBTQ practices.

John Mahama emphasised that, in his belief, God had a purposeful design when creating human beings.

Speaking on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021, commonly referred to as the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill, before Parliament, John Mahama addressed the government’s reluctance to approve private members’ bills due to associated costs.

He indicated that the President had expressed unwillingness to endorse bills incurring expenses on the government, as stated by the Attorney General.

During his campaign tour, Mahama urged the Executive and the Legislature to collaborate in addressing the issue.

He stated in a video shared by TV3, “I am an Assemblies of God member; the faith I have does not allow a man to marry a man and a woman to marry a woman. The bill is before Parliament, and the government has indicated that they won’t sign because the Attorney General has said a private members’ motion can be passed but must not come with a cost on the government. Based on that, the President has indicated that should a bill be brought before him, he should not sign.”

Mahama emphasized the need for executive and legislative cooperation to facilitate a resolution, allowing the President to sign the agreement.

On a personal note, he expressed his disapproval, stating, “But for me personally, I don’t, as a human being, you will just get up and say I feel I am a woman, yet I was born as a man. God knew what he was doing when he created us as such, so when you ask me, my personal faith is against it.”

People are stressed, they need entertainment – KOD Replies Rev. Eastwood Anaba

0

Renowned media personality, Kofi Okyere Darko, known as KOD, believes that integrating entertainment into church settings is a valid response to the prevalent stress in people’s lives. This perspective emerged after a video where Reverend Eastwood Anaba criticized churches for supposedly turning places of worship into entertainment centers.

In the video, the founder of Fountain Gate Ministries in Bolgatanga expressed frustration with the increasing focus on entertainment within churches, suggesting it overshadows the primary purpose – contemplating the divine word.

Rev. Anaba vividly shared his concerns, saying, “When you go to these churches, sometimes I just imagine. If there is no drum, there is no organist, there is no guitarist, and you take away all the music and the entertainment, many of our churches will die. I mean, you remove that, it will be like the oxygen support has been removed, and that is because the entertainment in our churches, sometimes, I think is too much.”

While acknowledging the value of entertainment, Pastor Anaba emphasized that the primary purpose of the church is not for entertainment but rather to fulfill spiritual needs.

As expected, Pastor Anaba’s video sparked discussions. In the comment section of the post shared on Daily Graphic’s Facebook page, KOD defended the need for entertainment in churches as a crucial lifeline for individuals experiencing stress. He wrote, “People are stressed. They need entertainment. Imagine the stress of being alive in this day without entertainment.”

Tiger Nuts Has Nothing To Do With Potency; Instead, Coconut Water Does – Captain Smart Debunks Myth

0

Media personality, Captain Smart has set the record straight about tiger nuts and their supposed link to male potency. Contrary to popular belief, he declared on TV3’s Ladies Circle that tiger nuts don’t contribute to male virility. Instead, he directed attention to coconut water as a more likely source of such benefits.

The outspoken radio and TV host stressed the importance of relying on scientific evidence and medical expertise for health-related beliefs. While acknowledging the nutritional value of tiger nuts, he emphasized that there’s no credible scientific support for their direct impact on male potency.

According to Captain Smart, people often have misconceptions about tiger nuts, known as “Atadwe” in local terms. He asserted that the real key to enhanced potency lies in coconut water, which, according to him, helps men stay fit in bed.

“People have funny thoughts about what we call ‘Atadwe’ (Tiger Nuts). Atadwe has nothing to do with potency. What actually helps a man to be more potent is coconut water. That will help you stay fit in bed,” he stated.

Additionally, he shared his personal habit of chewing bitter leaf daily to maintain fitness.

Don’t Allow Marriage to Stress You, Quit – Captain Smart Advocates for Men’s Well-being.

0

Media personality, Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart has advised men not to allow marriage to stress them. He suggests that men should not endure bad marriages but instead leave when things go south. According to him, the African man is coached to give telenovela love, which is far from reality.

Speaking in a discussion on TV3’s Ladies Circle on the topic: Men’s physical health, Captain Smart stated that no man should seek advice from outsiders, including their wives, on how to maintain their marriage and address their needs.

“Men should not allow marriage to stress them. If it’s not good for you, quit! The African man is being dogmatized to believe these things. So, we’re being poached and coached to give out telenovela love at home. I am not for that.

“I am a typical African man. I am not talking about romance; I can be caring, I am loving, I’ll help you do what I think I need to help you do. You don’t dictate to me what I should help you do,” he said.

He added, “Nobody should even try to dictate to me how to live with my woman. I sleep with her, we live in the same house, so I know her far better than even the father that gave birth to her.”

He believes a husband knows his wife’s needs and how best to treat them, adding that listening to society to manage homes is “some of the things that are killing the young married men in town, but they don’t know.”
