Mona Gucci reveals why she didn’t support Moesha Buduong’s fundraiser

Controversial TV host Mona Gucci has revealed the reasons behind her fallout with social media influencer Moesha Buduong.

Mona Gucci explained that her role as a critic and presenter often leads to conflicts within her social circle, especially when she chooses not to take sides on trending issues.

Speaking on TV3’s The Ladies Circle, Mona Gucci opened up about the fallout from her critique of ‘slay queens,’ explaining how it led to the loss of friendships, including with Buduong. Despite this, she remains steadfast in her dedication to her work.

“This job we do as presenters has its merits and demerits. I have had my own share of challenges which includes losing friends. For instance, when I started talking about slay queens and the kinds of jobs they do to survive, my close friend Moesha didn’t like it and attacked me.

“Our friendship ended because of that. So, when I heard she was sick and was appealing for funds, I didn’t do anything about it because we are no longer friends,” she disclosed.

Earlier this year, Moesha Buduong’s brother disclosed that she had been hospitalized and was in critical condition. Reports indicated that she had sustained a head injury from falling off a bar, which led to her slipping into a coma. Presently, there have been no updates on Moesha’s health status, despite the initiation of a public Gofund campaign in her name.

King Charles III Resumes Royal Duties After Cancer Treatment

0

Britain’s King Charles III is back to resuming his royal duties following treatment for cancer, Buckingham Palace announced Friday.

“His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis,” the Palace said in a statement.

On Tuesday, Charles and Queen Camilla are slated to visit a cancer treatment center “to mark the milestone” of his return to public life, and “this visit will be the first in a number of external engagements His Majesty will undertake in the weeks ahead,” the Palace added.

Following his discharge from London Clinic private hospital on Jan. 29, where he underwent treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, the King, aged 75, had withdrawn from public duties. His hospital stay lasted three nights, following surgery for an enlarged prostate.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” the Palace said in a statement issued Feb. 5. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” that statement added. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

“He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the Feb. 5 statement said. “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

One expert said that without knowing the type of cancer that King Charles has, it’s only “speculation” as to where the tumor originated.

“Since it was detected at the time of a prostate procedure, the most likely cancer is urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, or more commonly known as bladder cancer,” said Dr. Justin Friedlander, a professor of urology/urologic oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.

“Cancer of the bladder that is limited to the surface tissue of the bladder is often treated with local therapy — chemotherapy or immunotherapy delivered into the bladder via a catheter,” he said.

“Treatments are performed on an outpatient basis at specified intervals with periodic inspections of the bladder with a scope, known as cystoscopy, to assess for treatment response,” Friedlander added. “Most patients treated in this manner are able to go about with their regular activities in between treatments — hence how the King is able to attend to the majority of his schedule.”

The Palace acknowledged that the Emperor and Empress of Japan are set to visit the United Kingdom in June, with King Charles participating in those events.

“As the first anniversary of The Coronation approaches, Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year,” the Palace added.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, also announced on March 22 that she is battling an undisclosed form of cancer, following abdominal surgery conducted in January.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” she said in a video announcement in March.

The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she added. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Catherine, who is 42, said her diagnosis was “a huge shock” and that “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

U.S. Army Major Convicted for Illegal Firearms Smuggling to Ghana

0

A U.S. Army Major has been convicted on multiple charges stemming from the illegal smuggling of firearms to Ghana.

Kojo Owusu Dartey, a 42-year-old Major stationed at Fort Liberty, was found guilty by a federal jury. The charges include dealing firearms without a license, delivering firearms without proper notice to carriers, smuggling goods from the United States, and unlawfully exporting firearms.

Evidence presented at trial, including court records, revealed Dartey’s purchase of 10 firearms, including handguns, an AR15, 50-round magazines, suppressors, and a combat shotgun, between June 28 and July 2, 2021. He concealed these firearms within blue barrels filled with rice and household items, smuggling them out of the Port of Baltimore, Maryland, aboard a container ship bound for the Port of Tema in Ghana.

“Far from being a victimless crime, firearms trafficking threatens public safety across our nation and beyond,” said Toni M. Crosby, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Baltimore Field Division. “The Baltimore Field Division is proud to partner with the Ghana Revenue Authority and ATF’s Charlotte and Louisville Field Divisions for this investigation, which has kept firearms off the streets — preventing them from being used in any number of killings and other crimes — and ended this international firearm trafficking scheme.”

The Ghana Revenue Authority recovered the firearms and reported the seizure to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) attaché in Ghana and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division.

In addition to the firearms charges, Dartey was also charged with making false statements to a U.S. agency, making false declarations before the court, and conspiracy.

He faces a maximum penalty of 240 months when sentenced on July 23, 2024.

“We are partnering with law enforcement agencies across the globe to expose international criminals – from money launderers to rogue international arms traffickers capable of fueling violence abroad,” said U.S. Attorney Michael Easley. “Through a partnership with Ghanaian officials, this rogue Army Major was convicted at trial after smuggling guns to Ghana in blue barrels of rice and household goods.”

The investigation was conducted by the ATF, Army Criminal Investigation Division, and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Export Enforcement, with assistance from the Ghana Revenue Authority and the International Cooperation Unit Office of the Attorney-General of Ghana.”
