There’ve been 5 failed attempts to kill Special Prosecutor this year alone – A Plus makes wild allegations

0

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has backed the Special Prosecutor’s request for armored vehicles, as contained in a 2021 application for the clearance of some vehicles.

Recently, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), led by Mr. Kissi Adjabeng, has been subjected to scores of backlashes online, after the said document addressed to the finance ministry, went viral.

Kissi Agyebeng, Special Prosecutor

The request for four types of armoured-plated vehicles and 12 types of soft or light-body vehicles totaled at GH₵29,952,000, were captured, among others.

Scores of netizens including the likes of Blakk Rasta, have since kicked against the request, describing it as insane and insensitive.

According to A Plus, Kissi Agyebeng and the OSP who have encountered a series of assassination attempts purely sought to protect their lives because of constant threats on the lives, and criticising them for such a request which they are entitled to smacks of insensitivity.

“You want to assassinate someone. You have made five attempts on his life this year alone, but you are angry he has requested bulletproof cars which is a requirement under the law that set up his office. Did the special prosecutor set up the OSP? Should I release the photos of all the attempts, or you’ll shut up over there and allow the man to do his job? Like, he should avail himself for k!ln abi? I’m surprised he didn’t even request for bulletproof bulldozers. You have children but every day you want to k!l somebody. If you like, ask police to invite me for questioning. Like the things I’ll say ɛh! I’m calling your bluff!” he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

He lamented how some well-meaning Ghanaians who sought to fight corruption were virtually hounded out of office, and not the same treatment is being meted out to Kissi Agyebeng.

“Me I no dey see any of you ooo, You people did the same to Charlotte Osei, you did the same to Domelovo, you did the same to Martin Amidu, you did the same to Dr Anyah, just to mention a few, and Abdul Malik Kwaku Barko ooo sɛ Kwaku One too,” he added.

He went further to threaten that he may be compelled to disclose certain sensitive information about the people who are working against the OSP and their failed orchestrations if pushed to the wall.

0

Popular Nigerian actress and media personality, Toke Makinwa has shared a sneak peek to ladies on how they can meet and hang out with wealthy and high-profiled men this festive season.

Speaking on her podcast, Toke revealed that Banana Island and other areas in Lagos house the biggest and most influential men.

She advised anyone looking to mingle with wealthy men this holiday season to attend house parties in high-end Lagos neighborhoods like Banana Island, Ikoyi, VI, and Lekki Phase 1.

She, however, emphasized that ladies should have a budget and should be well-connected if they intend accessing highbrow locations.

“You have to have the budget for enjoyment first because high-profile men don’t go to slums, some of them don’t like to go out. So you have to know people who know people. Go to house parties this Christmas ladies, forget the clubs it’s too hot and noisy. Go to house parties that’s where it’s going down. Places like Banana Island, and Ikoyi Southwest, you can manage VI, maybe like Lekki 1. Anything after Lekki 1 don’t bother,” she said

“The Second Coming of Nkrumah” thrills patrons at AICC

0

The Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) last Friday came alive when Nkrumah returned to the stage in a premiere that stunned the audience.

Set to tell a story of Africa’s uniqueness and how leaders such as Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, led the continent to believe in its people and look inwardly for development and progress, the drama combined other theatrical performances to entertain and educate the audience for well over two hours.

The Second Coming of Nkrumah lived up to its billing, as one scene after another intrigued its patrons and filled the theatre with suspense, comedy, tragedy, love and other literary techniques that Ghanaian playwright and play director, Latif Abubakar, rightly employed.

The play was viewed by celebrities, personalities from UNESCO, diplomats, chief executive officers of relevant institutions, ministers of state and people from the diaspora.

A retired US Naval officer, Sherrie Bumbray, said: “Most of us know about Dr Kwame Nkrumah but this particular play was very educative and well produced by the cast, including the dancers, the choir, the costumes; everything was well thought out.”

“The only challenge I had was that I was very hungry and I would have left to go look for food if I wasn’t well entertained.

In my opinion, it was very well done.

“They need to provide some snack while people are viewing such a play,” she added as she beamed with smiles.

One of the popular quotes of Dr Nkrumah: “The Independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of Africa”, was fulfilled in the play which also touched on the stories of how other great African leaders contributed to the struggle leading to the granting of independence to many African countries in the 1960s.

It was the case that all the founding fathers of Africa such as Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah; Ethiopia’s Emperor Haile Selassie; Kenya’s first President and anti-colonial activist, Jomo Kenyatta; first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Patrice Lumumba, and Tanzanian anti-colonial activist and former President, Julius Nyerere, met to take a decision.

Other Pan-African freedom fighters such as the American Baptist Minister and civil rights activist, Martin Luther King Jnr, and Jamaican political activist, Marcus Garvey, were included in the deliberations.

In the end, the responsibility fell on Dr Nkrumah to go and save the continent although he resisted initially.

The characters are seen and heard extolling their respective virtues, full of education for the audience.

Entertainment

The Second Coming of Nkrumah was full of amusement as patrons watched the sensational comic actor, Macpratt Dadzie, who played “Atongo”, the bodyguard of Nkrumah, and other characters in the play such as the Narrator, the articulate Pearl Korkor Dake, who was superb in guiding the audience through the various scenes of the play.

Richmond Annan, who played the role of Nkrumah, stunned patrons with his deep voice depicting the true character of Ghana’s first President who led the country to independence in 1957.

Patrons

The premiering was sponsored by Fidelity Bank, with other partners being Graphic NewsPlus, M&C Group Global, UNESCO and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, among others.

A teacher, Twinkle Aye, and the 2020 Ghana’s Most Beautiful Winner, Naa Dedei Botchwey, were excited as they said they enjoyed every bit of the play and wished to watch it over again, particularly the cultural performances and the contemporary as well as the old school music introduced in the play.

“The attempt was made to personify the characters, and Atongo was my favourite. Atongo brought everything to life so it’s easy to focus and follow the story and he made it fun,” one of them said.

Highlife musician, Ben Brako, said the production was a great idea, however, “there was too much to imbibe and I think the story is important and so there should be more focus on the actual story than the peripheral stuff”.

“When it is so much it gets a bit lost because in the end, I wasn’t too sure what was the second coming of Nkrumah, what did it mean?

I could also see that people were tired even though there was traditional music, it was too much,” Mr Brako observed.

Rationale

Explaining the rationale for premiering the play, Mr Abubakar said the aim was to get feedback from patrons and people who would critique the production before the play was open to the general public from December 28 to 30, 2023.

He called on patrons with “critical eyes” for detail to reach out to him on his social media platforms with suggestions to improve the production.

Mr Abubakar, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Globe Productions, said the 150 cast had been rehearsing for about two months and that means by the end of the month patrons would have another level of experience.

The Second Coming of Nkrumah was also a perfect fusion of contemporary and old school settings, traditional music as well as dance performances such as Agbadza, Borborbor and Bamaya that helped to tell the exciting story.

The play focuses on three thematic areas — selflessness, togetherness and self-reliance based on research which identified selfishness and greed on the part of leaders as the biggest problem facing Africa.

“People are corrupt because they are selfish. People talk about indiscipline because they are selfish.

People talk about going into deals that favour the whites and that’s because they are selfish,” Mr Abubakar said.

“The entire conversation we are having about The Second Coming of Nkrumah is to preach to people not to be selfish, because that is the biggest problem of Africa,” the playwright further posited.

The event is being supported by the Graphic Communications Group Ltd.

Acting pays well in Ghana if you brand yourself well – Actress Victoria Lebene

0

Popular Ghanaian actress and brand influencer, Victoria Lebene claims that acting pays well in Ghana, depending on who is involved.

According to the actress, with effective branding, an actor or actress can command a high salary for their work but if you do not properly brand yourself, you will not get compensated for the work you do.

She made the statements while responding to a question from the host Sokoohemaa Kukua on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM’s mid-morning broadcast.

“I am selective about the movies I do. That is okay for me. If you need to assess your work, you don’t have to look after every movie. You need to have a certain class, and that is what has worked for me. I love it that way.”

She also noted that she does not chase after every movie but assesses the script to know if it would be worth her time.

“If I meet a good script, I will accept it. A good script touches you personally. A good script is not one in which, after release, people will claim that it was a repeated story or a story that was stolen from another movie.”

As a result, she has advised actors and actresses who want to be paid highly to market themselves properly.

How old is Sarkodie?; he works like a slave – Reggie Rockstone hails rapper

0

Legendary Ghanaian rapper and originator of Hiplife genre, Reggie Rockstone, showered praise on rapper Sarkodie for his approach and dedication to his craft and how he has contributed to putting Ghanaian music on the map.

Speaking on Class 91.3 FM drivetime show with Yao Mawutor Fianu on Tuesday, December 19, Rockstone expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of recognition given to the power of music in Ghana.

He acknowledged the difficult times the country is facing but emphasized that music has been a source of comfort and joy amidst the struggles.

Reggie was concerned that “people forget the soundtrack of the country,” by appreciating music and the individuals who create it with respect and dignity they deserve.

Rockstone was able to see the vast amusement that Patapaa’s viral One Corner provided to the nation, as well as Sarkodie’s relentless work ethic and commitment to excellence throughout the years, which included the consistent output of quality music and his organization of successful yearly events like Rapperholic, This is Tema.

“Sarkodie constantly keeping it up… Rapperholic… This… He’s doing that.

“This boy! How old is he? He’s working like a slave,” Rockstone exclaimed in admiration.

Sarkodie, together with his friends, are “holding the flag of Ghana” high, according to what he stated.

Sarkodie, along with other talented artists like Medikal and Stonebwoy, were hailed by Rockstone as standard-bearers for Ghanaian music.

He urged Ghanaians to “push them” forward and support their international success. These artists, he emphasized, are instrumental in making initiatives like the Year of Return and Beyond the Return significant.

Rockstone passionately advocated a conscious effort to showcase Ghanaian music to tourists, especially during the festive season. “It would be a waste of time if tourists came to Ghana and discovered that we were not representing [our] music,” he stated.

An announcement regarding the Play Ghana Initiative was made last week by the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC).

He urged stakeholders like DJs, nightclub owners, and media outlets to prioritize Ghanaian music and give it the exposure it deserves as stated by the Director of the CAA, during December and for the rest of their lives.

Gospel singer Francisca Amoah drops official music video for “My Praise”

0

UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician Francisca Amoah has finally released the music video for her song, “My Praise”.

The Fast-rising gospel musician Francisca Amoah is also a professional logistician in the UK.

Her song teaches the act of thanksgiving urging Christians to praise God regardless of their difficulties.

Narrating how she composed the song, she said “It was on one winter evening, it was dark and cold, I set off from home to attend bible studies at Eternal Life Christian Centre. I was on the way alone, feeling cold, and faced with the darkness on the road I remembered the lines in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which says “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

“As soon as the thought of these words flashed through my mind, the song burst out of my mouth,” she revealed.

Francisca Amoah believes that the birth of “My Praise” affirms one’s faith to sing God’s praises in all the circumstances of our life.

“I am convinced that God wants to use this song to tell someone out there that the challenges you are facing must not define you. My Praise is also a faith song,” she added.

According to her, “The bible says that faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen and for it the Elders obtained a good testimony. My Praise song is a song of good testimony, to sing Praise and not Pain.”

She desires that this song of faith and testimony will be an anthem song for every believer to use to affirm their faith in God regardless of the situation they find themselves in.

“Every name and knee should bow when we call on the name of Jesus. Come on, and Let’s sing our Praise song,” she added.

The music video released on December 18, is available on her YouTube page among other platforms.

Francisca came out with her first album in March 2023 and through her hard work, she was signed by Kato Enterprise as a Brand Ambassador for UltiMalt Drinks in the UK.
