The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan, Kojo Bonsu, has advised candidates sitting for the year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination in the metropolis to abide by the rules and regulations governing examination process.
He tasked the candidates to eschew acts that could have negative impact on the examination and their results.
Mr Kojo Bonsu who visited some examination centres in the Kumasi metropolis with some officials of the education directorate also urged the candidates to exude confidence in answering the questions.
“This examination is not any different from the internal examinations you have been writing in your school so there is no need for you to panic. Just be confident and study well for a better results”, he told the candidates.
The Kumasi Metro Education Director, Alexander Attah-Asante, said his outfit has psyched the minds of the candidates and prepared them well for the exams which begun Monday, TV3’s Ibrahim Abubakar reported from the Ashanti Region.
Mr Attah-Asante was hopeful the pass mark for 2016 BECE will exceed that of the previous years.
A total of 91,349 candidates comprising 46,931 males and 44,418 females in Ashanti region are taking part in this year’s BECE.
From the Eastern Region, TV3’s Yvonne Neequaye reports that the Regional Education Directorate has warned invigilators to eschew acts that could compromise the examination, noting the exam must be devoid of any malpractice.
A total of 44, 028 candidates are writing the exams in the region.

She reported that security had been tightened as officials of WAEC and Bureau of National Investigations were said to be monitoring the various centres.
The Regional Minister, Mavis Frempong, was hopeful the region’s performance would get better.
