President Akufo-Addo directs GES to reconsider ban on 14 students from writing WASSCE

President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has asked the Minister for Education, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to rescind their decision to ban the fourteen (14) students they stopped from writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The 14 students were dismissed and banned following their roles in some undisciplined acts.

In a statement, the President said even though the acts of indiscipline undertaken by these students were intolerable, he strongly believes that the dismissal alone is enough punishment.

“Everyone deserves a second chance in life, and is, thus, hopeful that the students will be allowed by the GES to take their final examination as scheduled,” part of the statement said.

The statement, signed by Director of Communications office of the President, Eugene Arhin said all other punishments imposed by the relevant authorities should remain in place.
