Top personalities plead with NPP’s Ama Sey not to go independent

Reports available to KwasiAboagyeLive.com indicate that Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency, Honorable Mercy Adu Gyamfi popularly known as Ama Sey, has given up on her intention to run as an independent candidate.

Reports say her decision came after a meeting with some top notch personalities including President Akufo-Addo, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye; Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong; NPP National Women’s Organizer Kate Gyamfua and NPP Eastern regional Chairman Kingston Akomeng Kissi.

Our sources say the personalities invited Ernest Yaw Kumi, the man who beat Ama Sey in the primaries, and his team so they could settle whatever issues emanated from the primaries.

Our sources say after appeals from the dignitaries, Ama Sey finally rescinded her decision to contest as an independent candidate although she had picked nomination forms which she was expected to submit today.

According to reports, Ama Sey will hold a press conference tomorrow to make the announcement official. KwasiAboagyeLive.com will bring its readers what happened at the press conference.

Ama Sey took the decision to go independent after she lost NPP primaries in acrimonious circumstances some months ago.

Her loss divided the NPP supporters in the constituency, some of who urged her to go independent.

When President Akufo-Addo recently stopped at Akwatia as part of a tour, Ama Sey refused to meet him. The president expressed disappointment in her actions but announced that he has plans for her in his second term.
