Entertainment critic, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has justified why Kuami Eugene did not deserve to win overall Artiste of the Year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Sharing his thoughts on the VGMA on Okay FM’s Best Entertainment show, Arnold said public votes do not really count when the Board and Academy have 60 percent voting rights for the Artiste of the Year category.
According to him, the “did you vote?” mantra was brought up by the organizers, Charterhouse to make people vote so they wouldn’t say voting does not count at the VGMA, but that doesn’t work when the Academy holds 30 percent and the Board has 30 per cent too.
He explained that if the Board and Academy vote for a particular artiste, it means he/she already has 60 per cent so the public’s 40 percent vote somehow does not count.
Arnold claimed Sarkodie stood a better chance of Winning Artiste of the Year than Kuami Eugene because the former did a lot of work than the latter considering the year under review.
He indicated that Lynx Entertainment did a good PR job by releasing the number of streams and shows Kuami Eugene has played in his three-year stay in the music industry but said if Sarkodie releases his, it’ll be a big blow to Kuami Eugene and the Lynx Entertainment team.
