William Kojo Agbeti Calls for Corporate Support for Ghanaian Filmmakers

Director and Cinematographer, William Kojo Agbeti, has presented a compelling perspective on the potential for the Ghanaian film industry to thrive with the backing of corporate support.

During a recent interview on 3 Music TV, Agbeti passionately shared his belief that if companies support emerging filmmakers, it could lead to a revival in the country’s film industry, producing exceptionally remarkable movies.

He stressed the importance of having enough money for filmmaking, mentioning that limited budgets pose a big challenge when trying to create top-notch films. Even though it involves significant expenses, he confidently stated that the investment is entirely justified.

In his own words, “It’s expensive. Budget is very important because the beauty of the soup is the meat, and you know it’s very expensive also to do that.”

He asserted, “I feel if corporate bodies can step in, a lot of producers, a lot of people can invest in the film industry.”

The Cinematographer pointed out that Ghana has numerous creative minds with untapped potential. He emphasized, “We have a lot of creative guys like me out there,” highlighting the wealth of undiscovered talent in the country.

He strongly encouraged companies to get involved, believing that investing in filmmakers’ skills would lead to outstanding movies.
“Once you’re able to invest in the expertise I’m pretty sure you’ll pull up a very good movie,”he confidently stated.
This hopeful message invites corporations to not only provide financial assistance but also to recognize and value the abundant creative potential within Ghana’s film industry. Agbeti’s vision, if embraced, could bring about a new era of impressive filmmaking, showcasing the diverse stories that Ghanaian filmmakers are ready to share globally.
