Bobrisky Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment

Controversial figure, Idris Olarewaju Okuneye, widely recognized as Bobrisky, has been sentenced by the Federal High Court in Lagos to six months in prison without the option of a fine for his involvement in naira abuse.

The verdict, delivered by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, aims to discourage similar offenses in the future. Bobrisky pleaded guilty to charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission related to the misuse of the national currency.

During the trial, the judge questioned Bobrisky, who has long presented himself as a woman on social media and in attire, about his gender. Bobrisky promptly affirmed his male identity.
In spite of Bobrisky’s plea for leniency, acknowledging his social media influence, the judge emphasized that ignorance of the law cannot excuse his actions. Expressing remorse for his actions, Bobrisky suggested using his platform to educate others about the consequences of similar offenses and expressed a willingness to rectify his mistake given the opportunity.
