A former Mayor of kumasi, Dr Samuel Sarpong has urged Assembly Members under the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to bury their differences which have delayed the election of presiding member of the assembly.

He also stressed on the need for members to put aside their political affiliation and put the development of Kumasi at heart as they converge to elect a presiding member on Tuesday.

Speaking to Akoma 87.9FM on Kumasi Mpotuo program, he said, the work of the assembly is devoid of partisan politics but rather doing the bidding of the community one was elected from.

The assembly has failed for at least six times to a presiding member. Metropolis has been without a metropolitan chief executive following the resignation of Kojo Bonsu some months back.

Dr. Sarpong who is also the Chief Executive Officer of State Housing Corporation noted that development in the area would be stagnated with the absence of a presiding member and MCE.

“I’m very Sad for KMA” he said.

Meanwhile some unit committee members in Kumasi have threatened to demonstrate against KMA assembly members if they fail to elect a presiding member October4.

MR Collins Cudjoe, unit committee members for Anloga west electoral area, said plans are advanced to hit the streets if the assembly fails to elect presiding member.
