Two kids who went swimming in a valley at Aramkoliga, a suburb of Zebilla in Bawku in the Upper East Region, have drowned.

The four-year-old Hawa Razak her two-year-old brother, Awimbe Alale were said to be attending the funeral of their grandfather Thursday afternoon and upon reaching the valley, they decided to swim in a dam there when they drowned.

According to relatives, the foster parents of the two children had taken the led to where the funeral was taking place, and were expecting the kids.

An eyewitness, Solomon Konda, told 3News a resident living close to valley saw the body of one of the kids floating in the valley and quickly shouted to attract people to the scene.

The Police were then called in to retrieve the bodies of the two children who were pronounced dead. Their bodies were taken to the Zebilla District Hospital where autopsy was conducted and before it was released for the family for burial.

The Police have since taken over the matter.

Meanwhile, the Assembly member for Zebilla Central,  Atiah Kudugu, has advised those living near the valley to fence it to avoid any such future occurrence.
