Former President Jerry John Rawlings has asked the general public to ignore reports that he visited the Flagstaff House on Tuesday to discuss issues relating to the governing National Democratic Congress.

He said his visit to the seat of government was prearranged and was on the instance of four persons including two Kenyan youth development experts.

“The two parties held fruitful discussions on issues pertaining to collaboration on development opportunities for Ghanaian youth, with the support of the government of Ghana.

“Also on the agenda was a discussion on serious challenges facing some sectors of the aviation industry,” the Office of Mr. Rawlings said in a statement.

According to the statement, former President Jerry John Rawlings did exchange brief pleasantries with Vice-President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur after his scheduled meeting with President Mahama.

“The meeting was not a surprise visit and matters concerning the National Democratic Congress and the 2016 elections were not on the agenda or discussed.

“Members of the media and the general public should ignore any other reports on the matter.”
