Mutiple award-winning gosple star, Joe Mettle has been in the music industry for the past two decades and not once has he been involved in any kind of controversy.
Ideally, it shouldn’t be strange for one who sings about the word to live a controversy-free life. But, truth be told, some of his colleagues in the Gospel fraternity have been in the news for the wrong reasons on a good number of times.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Monday, June 26, 2023, the ‘My Everything‘ singer attributes his controversy-free life to the fact that he loves to be in his corner, where he is kept out of trouble.
“I don’t know, but I try to stay out of trouble. That is basically what it is. I don’t put my mouth into people’s matters; I do not comment on anything. Sometimes, the problem is that we want to speak our minds about every little thing. I try not to do any of that. I don’t poke my nose into other peoples’ business. I stay in my small corner and try to be as simple as possible,” he said.
Almost all his songs are hits and Joe Mettle says it is by the kind grace of God that he is able to do that.
“I will say it is by the grace of God because first, there is the talent but most songs are often inspired by the Holy Spirit. Every season and time, He gives a specific word and melody.
“I don’t think I really do much. There are times that I am praying about something and God just drops a song. So I would say that it is just by God’s grace that we do some of the things we do,” he said.
Asked which is his best is ever, Joe Mettle said: “I can’t really say, but Bo Noo Ni was very big and so was My Everything. Currently, however, I think the biggest song I have is Kadosh. Some of the places I hear it being played is unbelievable; it blows my mind”.
Joe Mettle has seven albums to his credit. He has won several awards and was adjudged the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year in 2017 as the first Gospel artiste to have won the ultimate.
He also had a word of gratitude to his fans: “I want to say thank you for supporting the gift and ministry God has given me. I believe that ministry is about people. So if they don’t support you, you have no ministry. Thank you for the prayers, the thoughts and everything you do to support what God has called me to do,” he said.
