Popular human rights lawyer Maurice Kwabena Ampaw says he is beginning a one-week hunger strike in protest against President John Mahama’s pardon to the Montie trio.
The controversial legal practitioner had threatened to embark on the strike if the president went ahead to release the three.
But on Monday, August 22, by invoking Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution, President Mahama remitted the sentence of Salifu Maase, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Gunn.
Reacting to the decision by the president with regard to his threat, Lawyer Ampaw said he will begin his hunger strike forthwith and end on Wednesday, August 31.
He was speaking on Accra-based Adom FM.
He had also threatened to campaign against the reelection of President Mahama and incite the judiciary against the president.
He said he would call on the judges to embark on strike.
