TGMA: Amerado’s Team Petitions Board Over ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ Snub, Says Robert Klah

Rapper Amerado’s team has officially petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board to address the exclusion of his song ‘Kwaku Ananse’ from their nominations, particularly in the most popular song category.

Following the nominees’ announcement on March 28, 2024, Amerado took to social media to express his dissatisfaction, questioning why his popular track was overlooked by TGMA organizers, Charterhouse.

Despite receiving two nominations that night, including “Kwaku Ananse Remix – Amerado ft Fameye” for best collaboration and “The Hardest – Amerado” for best rap performance, the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” was conspicuously absent.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty, Robert Klah, head of public events and communication for TGMA, affirmed that Amerado’s team has lodged an official petition with the board concerning the omission. He assured that Amerado’s appeal is currently under review and will be considered for inclusion if it meets the necessary criteria.
“They have already contacted. They moved from social media to contacting us directly and following what has to be done. They’ve done the submission so I’m sure the board will sit on that together with all the submissions,”he said.
