The Electoral Commission of Ghana, EC, is opening applications for registered voters who may not be able to vote on December 7 to appoint proxies.

The applications will be accepted from Wednesday, August 17 to Monday, September 26.

“A registered voter who wishes to apply for voting by proxy is required to visit the Commission’s Head Office or the District Office of the Commission in his/her Constituency not later than 26th September, 2016 together with his or appointed proxy to be processed,” a statement issued by the Head of Communications at the EC said.

“Alternatively, the appointed proxy may pick the proxy forms on behalf of the applicant to be completed and returned to the Commission’s district office before the specified deadline of 26th September, 2016,” added Eric Dzakpasu’s statement on Tuesday.

An appointed proxy must be a registered voter while not more than one person can be appointed as such.
