Once you’re using machines, things can fail – Prince David Osei defends ‘Dumsor’ under the NPP regime

0

Actor Prince David Osei has spoken out about the recent occasional power outages in Ghana, attributing the issue this time to faulty machinery.

Renowned for his active participation in the 2015 #DumsorMustStop campaign during the John Dramani Mahama administration, the actor openly acknowledged experiencing the recent power cuts, stating, “We all felt it.”

While speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z on March 30, 2024, Osei compared the recent power outage in Toronto, Canada, to highlight the possibility of such disruptions even in developed nations. He stressed that the ongoing power outages in Ghana stemmed mainly from faulty equipment among power suppliers and distributors.

He stated, “The whole of downtown Toronto, Canada, went off recently. There was a blackout. So once you are dealing with equipment, you are dealing with machines, and things can fail.”

Additionally, he referred to a publication by the Electricity Company of Ghana, which claimed that the country boasted a stable national power supply and attributed outages to ‘localised faults.’

He continued, “That’s what it said. That if you are experiencing an outage in your area, call a certain number. It could be it’s a fault within your neighbourhood.”

While acknowledging the efforts made by the Electricity Company of Ghana to address the issue, Osei urged the company to adopt a proactive approach by informing affected citizens in advance of any potential outages.

Anas Exposes Truth Behind Bribery Allegations with Nyantakyi

0

Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has vehemently refuted any involvement in soliciting or accepting bribes from former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, to suppress the release of the Number12 documentary, which exposed corruption in Ghanaian football.

In a recent interview on Onua TV, Nyantakyi confessed to offering $100,000 to Anas in a bid to prevent the release of the damning video, asserting that Anas initially requested $150,000. While unable to fulfill the entire sum, Nyantakyi’s $100,000 contribution led to the eventual publication of the documentary. He lambasted Anas, suggesting ulterior financial motives behind Anas’ anti-corruption stance and portraying the scenario as a form of blackmail.

However, Tiger Eye P.I. issued a statement firmly denying any involvement in bribery. They dismissed Nyantakyi’s allegations and clarified their legal representation, challenging Nyantakyi to pursue legal action against the purported lawyer involved.

“Tiger Eye P.I. and Anas Aremeyaw Anas categorically deny any involvement in soliciting or accepting bribes from Kwesi Nyantakyi prior to the publication of the documentary. The core mission of Tiger Eye and Anas is to expose and confront corruption, making the notion of shielding corrupt individuals utterly preposterous given the extensive resources and efforts invested in producing such exposés.”

“It should be noted that neither Tiger Eye P.I. nor Anas Aremeyaw Anas engaged the services of a lawyer named Kwame Gyan from the University of Ghana. At all material times, including before, during, and after the production of the Number12 documentary, Tiger Eye and Anas have exclusively retained the legal representation of CromwellGray LLP, situated in Cantonments, Accra. CromwellGray LLP has consistently acted as legal counsel for Anas in matters relating to litigation initiated by or against journalistic publications involving Anas.”

Tiger Eye P.I. firmly asserted that any purported criminal agreement between Mr. Nyantakyi and a supposed lawyer was solely between them and did not involve Tiger Eye P.I.

“Tiger Eye P.I. firmly denies any involvement or knowledge of such activities. Should Mr. Nyantakyi’s claims hold substance, we challenge him to pursue legal action against Lawyer Kwame Gyan, including lodging a petition with the General Legal Council, to substantiate his allegations.”

The statement also highlighted that Kwesi Nyantakyi’s assumption that such a significant exposé, extensively promoted by the BBC, could be halted with a mere $100,000 bribe reflected not only surprise but also naivety.

“Tiger Eye underscores its robust internal mechanisms in place, making it difficult for any individual to alter or suppress an investigation.

“Per his confessed bribery attempt, Mr Nyantakyi has proven that the life-ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for conflict of interest and bribery offences provided for by FIFA Code of Ethics (FCE) was justified.”

Nyantakyi Unveils the Process of Recovering Alleged $100k Bribe from Anas, Meant to Halt Documentary Release

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has disclosed paying a notable $100,000 to Anas Aremeyaw Anas in a bid to prevent the release of the Number 12 documentary, which garnered negative attention towards him.

The documentary, led by Anas, revealed extensive corruption within Ghana’s football administration, showcasing Nyantakyi’s involvement in bribery and other misconduct captured on tape.

After resigning from his roles at the GFA, CAF, and FIFA in the wake of the documentary’s release, Nyantakyi claims that Anas demanded $150,000 through his legal representatives to suppress the damning footage. Despite Nyantakyi’s efforts to suppress the documentary, he could only procure $100,000, which he provided in an effort to prevent the damaging revelations from emerging. Nevertheless, the documentary was eventually released, leading to widespread criticism and his subsequent football ban.

In a recent interview on Onua TV, Nyantakyi recounted the events, stating, “Before the video was released, his lawyers reached out to me through his lawyer, a certain Kwame Gyan, a lecturer at Legon. I met him at his residence around Westland and gave them the money.”

He further added, “But they told me the amount was inadequate and later went ahead to release the video. After the video came out, I asked for a refund and even the refund was done in pieces. Today, they would bring $20,000, the next day another $10,000. They were giving me stories, but eventually I got everything back.”

Meanwhile, Nyantakyi has announced his candidacy for the Ejisu by-election under the NPP ticket, following the passing of John Kumah last month.

Investigation Surrounding AKA’s Murder: Gcaba Family Denies Involvement

0

South Africa’s influential Gcaba family has denied any involvement in the murder of rapper AKA.

Prosecutors informed the court last Wednesday that the Gcaba family is suspected of involvement in the rapper’s murder trial.

A statement by the investigating officer claimed that one of Mr. Gcaba’s companies transferred over 800,000 rand to the bank account of Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, a murder suspect.

The prosecutors asserted that Harvey Gwabeni received the money a day after the murder. Gwabeni claimed in an affidavit that the funds were from business with the Gcaba family.

However, prosecutors argued there was insufficient evidence of their involvement in any business dealings. The Gcaba family, in a statement issued on Sunday, March 31, explained that the payment was part of several transactions between Mr. Gcaba and Mr. Gwabeni, solely for business purposes.

“These numerous transactions over a long period of time can be verified through bank records and were neither unique nor isolated,” the family said.

They expressed concern over authorities not seeking Mr. Gcaba’s side but affirmed his readiness to clear his name.

Broadcast journalist Emmanuel Agyemang has terminated his longest interview marathon challenge. According to a press statement shared on Facebook on March 31, 2024, the decision to call off the challenge was based on medical advice from doctors.

The statement expressed regret, stating, “We are saddened to announce that the attempt to break the Guinness longest interview marathon record by Emmanuel Agyemang has been called off on medical grounds.”

His team’s statement also mentioned that Kaakyire Agyemang had broken the existing record by lasting 37 hours and 44 minutes. However, despite achieving this milestone, he was advised by doctors to cancel the show due to health concerns. The statement commended his efforts and determination, expressing hope for his speedy recovery and future attempts at breaking the record.

Kaakyire Agyemang commenced his interview marathon on March 29, 2024, at the Bayview Village in Accra.

Despite planning for three days, he managed to complete two days, achieving a remarkable feat of 37 hours and 44 minutes. This duration is closely comparable to the current record set by Rob Oliver with an impressive 37 hours, 44 minutes, and 17 seconds in May 2022.

Sista Afia hasn’t offended anybody, she can reach out to us – Robert Klah

0

Head of Public Events and Communications for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Robert Klah, has encouraged musician, Sista Afia, to contact the organization to address any concerns regarding her absence from the list of nominees for the 2024 event.

This stems from Sista Afia, whose real name is Fancisca Gawugah, expressing her disappointment and frustration for not receiving any nominations. Despite her popular song “Asuoden” in 2021, she received no nominations, leading her to question the award board’s decision-making process.

In response to her grievances on Hitz FM, Robert Klah assured that all due nomination processes were followed, denying any unfair treatment towards Sista Afia.

He stated, “Sista Afia can always reach out to me. I am always accessible. I don’t think she has stepped on anyone’s toes as far as I am concerned. The same process we follow to nominate artists is the same thing we are doing.”

Furthermore, he debunked claims that some artists secure nominations without applying, stating, “It is not entirely true that people do not file for nominations and yet they get nominated. We have a research team who in some cases include certain songs that merit nomination. And even with that, we contact the artist first.”

Robert Klah urged all concerned artists to reach out for clarification and assured that the board would address any strong cases, adding, “If for any reason, anyone has a strong case, you can petition the board and we will do what has to be done.”

TGMA: Amerado’s Team Petitions Board Over ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ Snub, Says Robert Klah

0

Rapper Amerado’s team has officially petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board to address the exclusion of his song ‘Kwaku Ananse’ from their nominations, particularly in the most popular song category.

Following the nominees’ announcement on March 28, 2024, Amerado took to social media to express his dissatisfaction, questioning why his popular track was overlooked by TGMA organizers, Charterhouse.

Despite receiving two nominations that night, including “Kwaku Ananse Remix – Amerado ft Fameye” for best collaboration and “The Hardest – Amerado” for best rap performance, the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” was conspicuously absent.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty, Robert Klah, head of public events and communication for TGMA, affirmed that Amerado’s team has lodged an official petition with the board concerning the omission. He assured that Amerado’s appeal is currently under review and will be considered for inclusion if it meets the necessary criteria.
“They have already contacted. They moved from social media to contacting us directly and following what has to be done. They’ve done the submission so I’m sure the board will sit on that together with all the submissions,”he said.

I’ve never spent money to get a woman – A$AP Rocky boasts

0

American rapper A$AP Rocky, known for his relationship with singer Rihanna, recently shared his philosophy on relationships.

While he acknowledged the importance of thoughtful gifts for girlfriends, he criticized the practice among some rappers of showering women with expensive items and cash.

During an interview with Angie Martinez, he boasted about his approach, stating, “I can honestly say that I haven’t spent a bag [money] on a b*tch in my life. I am handsome. That’s enough.”

He clarified, “Honestly, gifts for your girlfriends are different. I’m talking about bags on… Do you realize that rappers will hit a chick on Instagram, fly her out, give her 15 racks, have sex with her, take her shopping, then send her home? I’ve never done that.”

In 2021, A$AP Rocky publicly acknowledged his relationship with Rihanna. On May 19, 2022, the couple celebrated the birth of their first child, a son named RZA. Then, in August 2023, they joyfully welcomed their second son, named Riot Ross.

Mr Logic Exposes Visa Breakthrough Trend Among Ghanaian Artists

0

Popular entertainment pundit and music talent manager, Mr Logic, has opened up on a concerning trend among local artists, highlighting that they often view obtaining visas as their ultimate breakthrough.

However, once they secure these visas, they tend to cease collaboration with their producers, neglecting the efforts that went into their success.

Speaking to Blakk Rasta on 3FM, Mr Logic emphasized a lack of appreciation among Ghanaian artists for the hard work of their producers. He recounted an incident where an artist he managed abruptly ended their collaboration after obtaining a UK visa, which effectively terminated their deal.

Expressing his thoughts, Mr. Logic stated, “I think cross breeds understand how to appreciate the efforts that music executives put in the talent.”

Referring to his recently signed artist, Monique Spence, known as Mo Spence, Mr. Logic expressed confidence, stating that Mo Spence will not let him down. He added, “Because she’s seen it all. She does not need a visa to go abroad and say since I’ve got a visa to America I’m not working with you again. That’s what our people do. The last artist I worked with got a visa to UK and that’s it.”

When prompted to name specific artists, Mr. Logic refrained from doing so, stating, “…there’s a lot of them if I should put the names out there it’s more as if you’re attacking them but this is what we go through. Once they get visas, it’s like a life breakthrough and you don’t hear of them anymore.”
