US Ambassador Virginia Palmer Expresses Concerns Over Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ Bill

0

The recent passage of Ghana’s anti-gay bill has drawn deep sadness from Virginia Palmer, the US Ambassador to Ghana. On February 28, 2024, the country’s Parliament approved the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly known as the anti-LGBTQ bill.
This legislation, criminalizing LGBTQ activities and their promotion, advocacy, and funding, passed after thorough consideration stages. Offenders now face 6 months to 3 years in jail, while promoters and sponsors could be sentenced to 3 to 5 years.

The bill’s approval has triggered international discussions, drawing scrutiny from human rights advocates who believe it may compromise individual freedoms.
In a post on the X app, Virginia emphasized the importance of respecting and safeguarding the rights of every individual, irrespective of their sexual orientation.

She asserted that the law infringes on the fundamental human rights of Ghanaians, encompassing some of the most intelligent, creative, and decent individuals she knows who identify as LGBTQ. Virginia also voiced concern that the bill poses a threat to freedoms of speech, assembly, and the press.

Moreover, she emphasized the possible adverse effects on Ghana’s global standing and its economic well-being.

Efia Odo Opens Up on Heartbreak, Sharing Her Personal Journey to Healing

0

Actress turned musician, Efia Odo, revealed her coping mechanism after a heartbreak.
Having invested significantly in terms of finances, service, and emotions, she decided to leave Ghana for six months, seeking solace in America.

In an interview with Charlie Dior on Gh Queens Show, she shared how the heartbreak led her to a newfound connection with God and taught her the importance of self-love. Reflecting on the experience, Efia Odo emphasized the lesson that one should not prioritize loving others over loving oneself.
Despite the heartbreak not being her first, it served as a catalyst for personal growth, helping her discover self-worth and self-value.
“Before I got into that relationship, I was like if this relationship doesn’t work, I’m done. I don’t wanna be with nobody.” She detailed her emotional investment, saying, “I put so much into it financially, emotionally, supporting his family, supporting his dreams, and then when that relationship didn’t meet my expectations and it went south, it broke me because I put so much into it.”

Reflecting on the experience, she emphasized the lesson learned: “And it made me realize that you can’t love people more than you love yourself. This man made me learn self-worth, self-value. People see when you don’t value yourself. People see when you don’t love yourself…I literally found God.”

Describing the aftermath, she disclosed, “I went to America for 6 months because of that heartbreak. I literally left Ghana, went to America for 6 months, after I cried I was playing Gyakie’s song. I cried uncontrollably. My pillows were full of tears, but I cried my last cry in August, and after that last cry, that’s when I found myself.” Efia Odo emphasized this period as a turning point, declaring, “I told myself not to allow that to happen to me ever again.”
Efia Odo made it clear that her current priority is self-value, and she has redirected her attention towards achieving financial independence. Additionally, she dispelled the misconception that Kwesi Arthur was the one who caused her heartbreak but opted not to reveal the true identity of the person involved.

Just to put things in perspective,” he said. To this, the MC said, “forgive me sah,” and Moses replied, “You’re forgiven.”

The event brought together celebrities, family, and friends from Nigeria and Ghana, radiating cultural significance with traditional symbols and vibrant fabrics capturing the essence of their union. Guests indulged in a feast of cultural delicacies, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the couple.

Marie’s first look featured a stunning blue kente with peach embroidery, while Moses showcased suave style in full Akwa Ibom regalia, adorned with a white shirt, colorful wrapper, black cap with embroidery, and coral beads, perfectly slaying his outfit.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz, Epixode stresses his intent to retain creative authority, ensuring the liberty to compose the song without political party interference. His main goal is to be involved in projects that foster hope and inspiration among the Ghanaian people, steering away from a purely political alignment.

“There are disadvantages, but it is work. It’s only in this part of the world that celebrities are found wanted for making their political affiliations public.

“But if a political party comes to me for an anthem knowing that the message is positive, I would do it. Not to give the people hope and later be disappointed,” he said.

I met my wife as a virgin; she was one too, and I’ve never cheated on her – Prince David Osei reveals

0

Actor and film producer, Prince David Osei, has disclosed that he has never partaken in extramarital affairs since he married his wife.

Stressing the crucial role of trust and commitment in marriage, he affirms that he has stayed true to his marital commitment since marrying Nana Ama Asieduaa.

Despite the challenges of acting, which often involve temptation and portraying intimate scenes, Prince David Osei asserts his fidelity to his marital vows. He remains resolute in his commitment. During a recent interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, He revealed that he maintained his virginity when he met his wife, he shared that she, too, was a virgin. They dated for four years without any intimacy, marking her as his first-ever girlfriend.

Prince clarifies that his decision to refrain from physical intimacy during the early stages of their relationship was driven by a desire to ensure a secure future.

My wife tolerates me a lot. She’s a very good woman. She’s my strong backbone. Funny enough. She’s the first girlfriend I ever had. We were both virgins when we met. For the first four years we met, I never touched her.

“The reason was that, because I came from a very humble background, I didn’t want anything to jeopardise my future; I just wanted to be great. So, I didn’t want anything that would distract me. At a point on campus, some people thought that maybe I wasn’t a man. Because anytime she came to my room, nothing happened. I felt like if I had indulged in those things at those early stages, there’s always a price to pay for whatever you do,” he recounted.
